Very low growth and issues with trade wars with China and there are talk about Venezuela and how their situation will affect the oil price. Robert Cameron from Thebe Stockbroking chose Sappi Ltd as his stock pick of the year. Sappi, in the first half of last year that sector had quite a big run but it pulled back quite significantly. Lately it has been in quite a consolidation pattern and it looks like it might break out to the upside a bit.

Steven Schultz from Momentum chose Naspers as his stock pick of the day. Late in December the Chinese Authorities release and approved eighty titles for games and they have a backlog of five thousand. Although none of those titles belonged to Tencent, it’s just a matter of time. As a result there should be a strong rebound in 2019 from a gaming revenue perspective.

Graeme Franck from PSG Wealth Sandton chose AECI Limited as his stock pick of the day, a lot of South African facing shares has come under pressure and AECI has not been immune to that and they are trading on a forward PE of 8.5 times and a dividend yield of 5 or 6%. We think it's offering good value and if you put the retailers and the banks aside, the leverage to the bottom line that you'll see from some of these industrial companies, if we get a bit of GDP uplift it could be quite pronounced.
