Marks Motivational Podcast

Hi and welcome to another episode of my podcast. Today I was delighted to be joined by another great self published author Michael Harrison. Thanks for tuning in to my podcast.

Born in Newcastle upon Tyne lived all over the UK ( in Yorkshire, Suffolk, Surrey, Gloucestershire and finally Hampshire) before heading to California in the mid 90's with a move to corporate headquarters. In 1999 he left corporate America and reinvented himself as a full-time artist. 2017, at the age of 68, he wrote his first book, Teenage Millionaire, featuring a nerdy 15-year-old Brit, with big ideas to get rich. It is actually a coming of age love story. Here is Micheal's links to his great books.

Hi all thanks for tuning in to my podcast, today I was delighted to be joined by another great author Desiree T. Young. Desireé is an author and publisher born and raised in the southeast WI area. She minored in creative writing while in school and has always loved the connection that people get when they read whether it’s a work of fiction or someone else’s life story. She always dreamed of writing a book someday but it wasn’t until 2020 that the dream became a reality. Since then Desireé has continued to write and managed to publish three books in three years. The first was a realistic fiction novel about human trafficking. The next two were memoirs.

He grew up in Basingstoke but moved to Devon in 2005, where he lives with my wife of 13 years (partner for over 23 years) and twin children. He started taking writing seriously in 2013 and had my debut horror novel ‘Acolyte’ published in 2015. He followed this up with 3 more horror novels, released across a mix of independent publishers and self-publishing, before he decided to try my hand at something new and wrote the first of my children’s books, ‘It’s A Long Way To The Moon’, which was released in the autumn on 2019 by Cranthorpe Millner Publishers. He then wrote a Christmas-themed follow-up called ‘It’s A Long Night For Santa’, which was released the following year. Both of his children’s books star my cute little character called the Little Brown Moth, who is exactly what his name suggests! ‘Long Way To The Moon’ follows him as he tries to realise his goal of flying to the moon one night, with help from a few of his animal friends along the way. ‘Long Night For Santa’ sees him return to help Santa deliver the last of his presents on a foggy, cold Christmas Eve night. These books were very much inspired by his love of Julia Donaldson’s work, as well as the illustrations in the classic Eric Carle stories, like ‘The Very Hungry Caterpillar’. Both books are available via Amazon, Waterstones and WHSmiths, and ‘...Moon’ is also available as an audiobook on Amazon. he has also had the honour of having both of them read by BBC children’s presenter Chris Jarvis on Little Radio UK. During the pandemic, He also started podcasting and launched 4 different shows between 2020 and 2023, the first of which, called 'Dead Men Talk', was focused on creativity and was a mix of him talking about his own inspirations and welcoming guests from different fields to talk about theirs. He returned to writing last year with his 5th horror novel, 'Poison In The Well', which was released at the end of December.

Hi all, It was great talking to Krista today all about her writing and great children's books she has published. Here is Kristas information thanks for listening and watching on YouTube would be great if you would like and subscribe to my podcast on YouTube.

Krista is the author of Girls with Curls: The True Tales of Girls with Curly Hair and Hair Bear: A Tale of Curly Hair Love. The idea to write children’s books came from her many years as a classroom teacher reading books to her students, but the inspiration came from her four curly-headed daughters. She thought it would be fun to share a glimpse of their "world of curls" because people often asked many questions about their hair. After writing Girls with Curls, she realized her books included important themes for children like self-acceptance, self-love, as well as  feel represented.
