Marks Motivational Podcast

Hi and welcome to another episode of my podcast. Today I was delighted to be joined by Kim who is a Childen's author and Paula who is an ilustrator who work on Kims great books together, the first in the series is called A Butterfly Tail. Here is their bio's thanks for listening and watching.

Kim lives in New Jersey, USA and is a mother to two teenage boys. With her eldest off to college and youngest a Junior in High School, Kim is dedicating more time to her dream of being a children’s book author.  Her first book, ‘To Be Free’ is part of a series called ‘A Butterfly’s Tale’. The story is about an endearing butterfly who lives in a tree and is afraid to fly. It captivates children’s imaginations and tells a story about friendship and courage. Kim is excited to release the second book within the next year. She hopes to continue her journey and spend more time in schools and libraries reading to children and allowing them into her world of storytelling.

Paula Piechna loved art and drawing all her life. She was good at math since she was a child, so she was always pushed in that direction. She is an engineer by education. But she always felt that something was missing. After giving birth to her second child, she decided to stick her nose out of her comfort zone and spread her wings. Currently, she combines caring for children with working as an illustrator of children's books. With her work, she wants to put smiles on the faces of children and adults and touch their hearts.

Hi and welcome to this new episode of my podcast in this episode I talked about tapping technique which I find works well for all sorts of everyday issues. Looking forward to hearing how well it works for you.

Hi and welcome to another episode of my authors Tuesday podcast interview with author Lucy O'Callaghan, it was great to talk to Lucy all about her writing and her awsome novel which is out today The Lies Beneath. Here is Lucy's bio, enjoy all.

Lucy O’Callaghan’s bio.

Lucy is originally from Yorkshire but met a Galway man at university in Wales and moved to the West of Ireland. She studied English Studies and Philosophy and travelled some of the world before embarking on teaching English.

Motherhood to two boys and a girl distracted her from her career for a long time and she enjoyed working in the home. Courses in journalism and writing fiction kept her creative brain ticking over. Writing stories at first for her children, she moved towards contemporary women’s fiction. A self-confessed people watcher, stories that happen to real people have always fascinated her.

Lucy owned and managed a preschool for 16 years, teaching 2 to 5-year-olds. She has been a member of both in-person and online writing groups for many years. To further immerse herself in the writing world, Lucy has, in recent years, completed courses in several areas of publishing including copywriting and editing.

Lucy writes a weekly Really Useful Links column for writing.ie aimed at finding the best advice out there for various aspects of writing. From plotting v pantsing, world-building, scene description, and character traits, to working through the saggy middle, her columns have all areas covered. She also writes regular feature interviews with literary agents.

When not writing, Lucy can be found walking the beaches of Ireland and exploring her favourite Burren hills alongside her husband and dog. These walks are often when the best story ideas come to mind, and plot problems are teased out and fixed. She also likes to rearrange her purple pens and purple notebooks, and line up her collection of elephants (not real).

The Lies Beneath, is her first novel, published by Poolbeg. With two more books on the way, Lucy is thoroughly enjoying her writing journey so far!

The Tales of harry also

Celia Norman Smith promotes the power of friendship in her contemporary Scottish fairytale for children, complete with beautiful illustrations.

Meet Harry Also: storyteller and scarecrow, who lives in an organic vegetable garden at the foot of the Campsie Fells, ‘between here and there’. He is an optimist, a patient fellow, after all he can’t go anywhere, and recounts numerous stories to the fairy folk of Handbag Wood.

Harry, along with his best friends Peawee (the Wuidwisp) and Button-Box (a cheeky crow) will show readers just how strong a community can be through support, love and adventure.

Can Harry stay awake to see a Shetland lamb born? Will he experience the taste of warm honey? And can he save his friend from the vengeful clutches of the Droigs? Everything seems so serene until Peawee reveals a traumatic secret. Will the compassion of Harry Also unite them to allow Peawee to overcome their history and save them all from evil?

An inspiring Scottish tale for readers aged 10+, who learn that with inner strength and strong friendship even the deepest of emotional wounds can be healed.

Celia Norman Smith studied at Brighton Art College for a BA Hons. After working at Mount Cook Sheep Station, New Zealand, she retrained as a shepherd. Living off the land in Scotland also created a passion for writing and drawing. The natural environments and community care of different cultures influenced her life. Now living in Angus, Scotland, she loves wild gardening, wild swimming and being a tad wild herself.

Celia says, “Throughout my life I have had the privilege to travel and meet some amazing children and their families. Whilst living at a Riding for Disabled centre I was shown the courage, fortitude and joy of the children and their families/carers. Family addiction, physical and mental abuse is unfortunately something many children experience yet they struggle to find a voice to express the emotions and difficulties they endure through this time and for many years after. A personal experience through the life of a young child and the guilt of a mother that this entails, came hope and the trilogy; The Tales of Harry Also. Nature has incredible healing qualities so I wanted to encourage families and children to go outside to experience the countryside or the garden but also to acknowledge young carers and give them a voice. Like the character Peawee, I experienced the realities of caring for someone with dementia when caring for my mother during her last few years. The wood cut illustrations are created using raw wood; in that way the print lets the woodblock have a natural quality and gives the wood a voice too.”
