Marley's Ghosts

This is a proper scary story! Also warning there is harm that comes to a child/baby and I apologize if you're upset by that. As a mom it was difficult so I wanted to give a warning.

This is another mystery author and publishing date. I found it in one of the collections of horror tales I have and loved it!

A new car and winding road - will everyone survive?

How It Happened - first published in 1913 and I think it's funny that it's subject is "Masculine Pride". That's going to get a guy every time.

This story was written by none other than Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, one of my very favorite authors of all time. It's just a super quick nail biting adventure that sneaks the spooky in.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN! This episode is about a deadly plague rampaging across the world...hmmm...seemed a perfect and timely story.

This story was first published in 1842 and is written by the OG goth king of spooky stories Edgar Allan Poe. I didn't want to start my podcast with Poe because frankly I think that would be too cliche but I knew this story in particular and this author had to be my halloween episode.

I hope you enjoy it!

What lurks upon the vast ocean? Can a man survive this ships extra passengers?

I don't have any details about the book or the author, they themselves are a mystery.

But I always love a ghost ship having grown up on a boat and thinking of the ocean as my home.

I hope you enjoy this spooky tale

A melancholy German student in Paris during the French Revolution what could go wrong?

The Adventures of the German Student was first published in 1824 in Washington Irvings collection "Tales of a Traveler". It apparently has a french inspiration story that has been lost to time.

If you love spooky tales you will be familiar with the American author Washington Irving as the author of Rip Van Winkle and The Legend of Sleepy Hollow. Hmmm anyone else starting to think he had a fascination for beheading things

Also some fun accents in this one. I love accents but I must admit to do a serious German accent I have to pretend I am Werner Herzog or I end up sounding like Heimlich from A Bugs Life.

A relaxing vacation takes a terrifying turn when creepy crawlers wreck havoc on the guest of an Italian Villa.

Caterpillars was first published in 1912. It is part of the crypto-fiction genre. So if you love cryptids, bugs or just dream of a vacation in Italy you'll enjoy this story.

E.F. Benson was a prolific English author who brought his talents to a variety of genres including novels, ghost stories, plays and biographies.

I chose this story because it just creeped me out. I don't like bugs and then terrifying paranormal bugs is a big ol' nope. So of course I had to share my discomfort with all of you.
