Jesus' words sparked controversy when they were spoken, and they are especially controversial now. The world wants you to be who you were born to be. That sounds like a nice message, to just be your natural self. The problem is that your natural self is sinful and not right with God. It's natural to do things that aren't pleasing to God! Today, Jesus calls us to something greater. He calls us out of the easy, sinful life into a life transformed by his power.
