Why are the majority of people not happy in married life?
Anyways, I think it all comes down to understanding the slippery slope most unhappy couples are living daily… but are unaware of.
First it starts with criticism
You always say YCriticism is about attacking the person, not the act.
Solution : talk about what is wrong and stay focused on the matter at hand.
Then it continues with contempt
You don’t wake up one day and decide that you despise your spouse. No. You wake up one day and realize that you despise your better half.
Contempt is a horrible emotion. When you are at that stage, things are really bad!
Solution : for an emotion to become less prevalent, it has to be acknowledge. You despise him? OK, now at least you can start working on… whatever needs to be fixed.
Then it’s defensiveness to come into picture
Whether you are into innocent victimhood or righteous indignation… at one point, it becomes about proving that you were awfully been wronged.
Defensiveness isn’t about right or wrong, it’s about proving that it’s not your fault.
Solution : you can either be right or be happy. Decide!
We all know those couples, don’t become one of them. No matter what you decide, when you just don’t give a fuck anymore… it’s the end.
When you are at the stage of giving up altogether, there’s usually nothing that can turn back the hands of time.
Solution : if there’s no kids, just move on! If there’s kids, I strongly suggest you look at the data : single parent household do a lot of damage on kids, just don’t separate yet. You managed to love each other enough to make a baby (maybe more), go back in time and find how to bring her back to you.
