  • #178 On Grief- Our Collective Sorrow

I have been sharing my feelings on grief on my social media pages for the past few days.

Someone lost a friend, a mentor, a family member due to their views and values. We as a nation are narrowing our focuses to those who align with our viewpoints, and it creates such a grief and separation within the soul.

It is natural to do so, and to take comfort in what you can understand. It can be hard to listen and learn without judgement. In this episode I speak on what grief really means, and how we can use that knowledge to keep our lights on.

Keep them on for ourselves, for one another, for the world. It is hard work to keep going. To continue to be open to learning. To sit with hard things, yet we must in order to maintain that connection, that soul alignment, that LIGHT shining.

The second episode I speak on nourishment and how to take it during these times. How to identify what fills you up when things feel confusing, and why it is is so important to do so. I speak on the power of play to bring us into presence and why presence is a practice to cultivate in this time.

The third speaks on Mindful Movement for medicine for the soul. I have recorded two grounding meditations and a mindful movement class in my free Supportive Mindfulness Community and they are on replay, should you feel called to tune in.

    Take care of yourselves.

Remember that you cannot control an outcome, but you can soothe your emotional state by mindfully checking in with yourself and then choosing to engage in activities that regulate your nervous system and bring you back into balance.

    Meditation.

    A walk in nature.

Somatic movement. ( For me dancing or intuitively moving the body with eyes closed)

    Self massage.

    A bath.

    A yoga practice.

    Reading a book.

    Nourishing food and water.

Deep grounded breathing. ( Lying on the floor and focusing on breathing from your belly.)

Cuddle an animal, baby or stuffed animal if you don't have one

    A favorite mantra of mine-

"I surrender what I cannot control. I am grateful for all that I have. I breathe in love, I breathe out peace."

What brings you nourishment during this time?

My Women's Circle begins tomorrow with three spaces left. If you are craving a space to share without judgement. To speak on hard things, and cultivate joy, come join us.

  • #176 Releasing the Shame of Grief

This is an episode I felt called to share as I sit with my feelings of grief. The things I share on my show are ways in which humans connect, how we keep it moving, and ultimately what brings us back to our souls and our light.

Grief is a subject I speak on around the world, and it is felt so strongly within me this week.

The ways we express grief are uniquely ours and we truly honor the deceased by being the truest versions of ourself.

When we play. When we dance. When we sing or have a moment of pure bliss looking at a tree in the wind, we are in connection with souls, and we honor them by living the fullest life we can. By healing, growing, learning, shedding perfectionism, and sharing our feelings, and not being ashamed of our grief. Instead of all of that, calling in compassion.

In the words of Francis Weller- We are all grievers, and we have to hold one another in our collective grief.

    Thank you for tuning in.

  • #175 Steve Valentine Actor and Magician

Join me in welcoming the extremely talented Steve Valentine to the show. My first interview in two years!

I recently went to his show at Liberty Magic Lies and Other Deceptions and was so moved by his storytelling, his magic, and his general way of connecting through his talents and compassion.

It aligned so perfectly with the direction Marta on the Move has been heading which is having deeper conversations about how we create, how we play, what keeps us connecting as we travel as humans through life, and how we keep moving.

We talk about everything from how he found magic, cool Magic Castle stories, mindfulness and how we treat and talk to ourselves as self-care, improv comedy, and how it relates to playing with the audience and talking with them inside of talking at them. There is a lot here, and it is just delightful. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

Check out Steve's awesome website Magic on the Go which he has over 1,000 episodes, check out his live magic shows, or catch him on television and film.

I could have chatted with Steve all day. His compassion, authenticity, and kindness shine through in his approach to magic and life. He even wanted to give a shout out to my mom, which you can hear in the bumper beginning of the show.

Thanks Steve! Keep that magic flowing.

    Thanks for tuning in.
