We split September 1962 into two episodes, because we had too much to fit into one! In this episode we discuss the Hulk's power of flight (???), the first appearance of the Ant-Man, and Thor defeating a commie dictator!

It's time for another episode of Marvel Reread Club, where Matt and Steve reread every Marvel Comic in order and kibbitz about them! Let’s dive into September, 1962. There were five issues that month and we recorded 100 minutes talking about them, but we decided to split that into two episodes, so this week, for part one, we’ll just be discussing Amazing Fantasy #15 (introducing Spider-Man) and Fantastic Four #6 featuring both Dr. Doom and Namor, the Submariner. Spider-pupils! Unstable molecules! Lots of fun!

Here we are back again! This is a big month, folks: Fantastic Four #5, introducing Dr. Doom! Journey into Mystery #83, introducing Thor! Incredible Hulk #2, introducing, uh, the Toad Men! A convenient cache of fake beards! Easter Island men from Saturn! Magnetism doing what magnetism can’t really do! Check it out, true believers!

This issue, we’re reading all the superhero comics from February to May of 1962, which means Fantastic Four #3 and #4 and Hulk #1! Mass hypnosis! Walking whales! Passenger Missiles! Lots of fun to be had!

This week we cover January 1962, which means Fantastic Four #2, the first appearance of the Skrulls, and Tales to Astonish #27, the first appearance of Ant-Man (though he’s not Ant-Man yet).

Introducing Marvel Reread Club! This podcast will consist of us rereading every single Marvel superhero comic, starting with the beginning of the Marvel Age, one month at a time, and having fun discussing them. Most episodes will feature multiple comics, but for this first episode, we’ll just discuss the only Marvel comic to come out in November, 1961: Fantastic Four #1!

How should one listen to this podcast? We’re hoping to make it enjoyable whether or not you’ve read these comics. Have we succeeded? That’s up to you to answer! If you do want to read along, then get yourself a Marvel Unlimited subscription.

We hope you like it! We’re still finding our footing, and will continue to do so. We will actually be releasing this one weekly, at least for a while, every Wednesday (aka, New Comics Day!)

Okay, folks, give it a listen if you’re interested and let us know what you think!
