  • Dropping Spicy #126: Judging Randoms: A Tier List
On this episode, Matt and Kinder talk about some Apex troubleshooting caused by third-party software, a few interesting news snippets, and most interestingly, a tier list of our own. We rank the legends of Apex, based on what our first thoughts are, when we see a random pick them in PUBS, ranking them from "Carry me, Daddy", to "Prepare for Certain Death!". Note that this isn't a reflection of the value any given legend brings to the table in terms of utility, but the types of randoms that generally play them. Prepare to disagree, hardcore, with this episode of Dropping Spicy!

  • Squad Goals #28: Reunions (On Liara and Tali)
Nick, Chip, and Kurabara are back to talk about their ongoing experiences in Mass Effect 2 as they play through the Mass Effect Legendary Edition. This week, they finish up their stay of Illium (for now) by finally heading up the stairs and into Liara's office. But first they talk about how Liara is threatening to kill someone when you meet her. Then they wonder if the color of the Asari is based on their genetic heritage. Nick then talks about how nice it is for Liara to greet Shepard warmly as opposed to other members of the Normandy who treated Shepard with some coldness. They talk about some of the quests that Liara sends you on, including the quest where you learn that Liara's secretary is planning to kill her. That leads to a discussion of whether the Asari are the most duplicitous race in the galaxy. They also talk about how much more mature Liara is dealing with Shepard this time.
Kurabara brings up that the stocks for the Dantius corporation went up after Thane killed Nassana on a prior mission. They also talk about the encounter with Charr, the Krogan poet who is trying to woo an asari who seems to like him but is questioning whether she should stay with him. This leads to a discussion about Krogran relationship considerations with respect to the Genophage.
Finally, they head to Haestrom to meet Tali. Nick talks about how Kal'reegar got him to go Paragon on his playthrough. Then they talk about the radiation mechanic that requires players to hide in the shade or suffer constant damage to their shields. Nick talks about how Tali is glad to see Shepard and they tease her feelings for them. Kura brings up the Dark Energy subplot that pops up at points in Mass Effect 2. They also revisit Tali's rebuff at the beginning of the game. Nick also brings up that Kelly Chambers will tell male Shepards that Tali has a crush on you. Kura also brings up the fact that this is one of the few missions that involve Geth. Nick talks about the level design, and they also talk about the drones that Shepard encounters. They also talk about Jacob's hostility towards Tali once she joins the crew. This leads to a discussion of Jacob's role on the crew and his intended purpose, and how Mass Effect was developed with a straight, male eye.

  • Wondrous Tails #82: Two Week Wait? EW!
We said our last episode was the penultimate episode before Endwalker, which did end up being true as we all had our own delays to deal with. This is our final pre-Endwalker episode and we've got a lot going on, actually. There's some live letter bits to discuss and we've all been pretty busy both in and out of game. It's the end of an era for us, and we're really looking forward to ringing in the new expansion as we say goodbye to Shadowbringers.

  • Squad Goals #27: Illium Part II: The Justicar and the Assassin
Nick, Chip, and Kurabara are back to continue talking about their time on Illium. This week, they get into the two recruiting missions to meet Samara the Justicar and Thane Krios the assassin. They begin by talking about the word Justicar and whether it originated from Mass Effect or not, as Justiciar is a real word. Then, they get into talking about how Samara is presented as a badass. They also talk about her task oriented, professional nature and how that can affect the ability to romance her. Next, they discuss how being a Justicar works with her recruitment onto the Normandy. They also talk about the possibility of Justicars going rogue and how that compares to being a Spectre. They also talk about her low-cut outfit.
Regarding the mission, they examine the relationship between Detective Anaya and Samara, as Anaya is putting herself in danger just by doing her job. They talk about Pitne For and whether or not they threw him under the bus, and have fun talking about the drunken Niftu Cal. They also talk about Elnora and whether they fell for her ploy or killed her outright.
Next they talk about recruiting Thane, and talk about how Chip finds him to be a boring character. Nick talks about how he's more fascinated by Thane's relationship with his son. They talks about how Thane was ready to die on the Nassana Dantius mission and was all too grateful for Shepard to come along and recruit him. They also mention the quick-time event with the mercenaries, and appreciate how smoothly Thane is able to kill Nassana. They also review Shepard's history with Nassana Dantius, as she is another character from Mass Effect 1 to appear.

  • WoW! Talk! #198: #FireBobbyKotick
Nick, Rei, and Harv are back to talk about World of Warcraft and Activision-Blizzard this week! First, Rei talks about raiding with the other guild and how they and Order of Corrupted Souls are getting along. They are currently working on defeating Sylvanas. She talks about the struggles as a healer when certain players die too much. There were some issues with identifying the raid markers and what order they were intended to represent. She also shares a rant about the rules for wearing shoes at her house.
Harv talks about how he ran some dungeons with the other group. This leads to a discussion about carrying alts and what level of gear is appropriate, as well as determining who can bring an alt and who needs to bring a main to carry. They also talk about gearing up low ilvl characters. Harv mentions that he has cleared Soulrender. Rei tells a story about how people thought she was mad because she accidentally cut a stream short.
In the news, Nick talks about the recent allegations of harassment against Bobby Kotick, CEO of Activision Blizzard. He talks about how Bobby is at his most vulnerable right now, and yet still may be able to survive this controversy. He endorses the #firebobbykotick hashtag.
Also, Patch 9.2 was announced. The gang discusses some of the news about Zereth Mortis and the Sepulcher of the First Ones raid. They also talk about the Warlock tier set looking a bit racist from behind.
