  • The Tauren & The Goblin #129: On Broker Cosmology, Elune, and Pro-Wrestling
Nick is here all alone to talk about the recent lore reveals from the Tazavesh Lore Book datamined by WoWhead. Nick goes through Al'farim's saga as he starts describing fractals and geometry that he encountered in his study of the First Ones. He talks about how the First One's Sepulcher is not the same as the Sepulcher of Knowledge in Maldraxxus. He compares Al'farim to Copernicus as someone who drastically changes a society's cosomological perspective and is derided as a heretic until proven right. He speculates that this is what the Grimoire of the Shadowlands will be like. He talks about the potential for there to be other Pantheons we don't know about yet, including the possiblility that Elune is actually multiple beings. He discusses how Al'firim sees fractals and compares those fractals to the way that the lore expands as you dive into it. He talks about how Zovaal is also looking for the knowledge of the First Ones, and wonders if part of that knowledge is the use of Domination magic, which could the Al'firim's mysterious seventh force.
Next, he discusses some reveals from the Patch 9.1 cinematic of Tyrande vs Sylvanas. He talks about how Elune abandoned Tyrande just as she was about to go in for the kill, and wonders if this could relate to the Ilgynoth whisper about the Light making a deal with the enemy of all. He then speculates that the Jailer and Elune could have worked together once, and Elune got away while the Jailer was left behind to become the Banished One. He talks about how he thinks that Banshee Sylvanas is the "her" in the "the hour of her third death" whisper, and expects we'll kill her in the raid. He thinks that with the Jailer free, he could go after Elune for betraying him, or to reclaim what should have been his/theirs, and thinks it would be fascinating if this story takes us into the realm of Light.
Finally, he compares the Sylvanas-Tyrande fight to pro-wrestling, with a turn by Elune and the Jailer and Sylvanas ending with beef.

  • WoW! Talk! #189: Patch 9.1! Thoughts!
Patch 9.1 is finally here and Nick, Rei, Eric, and Harv have had a chance to play it and share their thoughts! First, Rei talks about running Mythic+ and her joy at all the other people she is seeing logged into the game with the guild. Then she talks about her attempt at Torghast trying to get the Highlander bonus where you only have one of any given anima power, but she laments that sometimes you are forced to choose an anima power you already have. Then she talks about her experiencing running Tazavesh, the Broker MEGADUNGEON. She accidentally joined a group running it on hard mode, and she and Eric spent 6 hours clearing the dungeon. The good news is that they did enjoy the Infinite Pirate Dragon and they got their mounts for the experience so it was not a total waste.
Eric, meanwhile, has been enjoying the new Sanctum of Domination Raid. Order of Corrupted Souls is now 5 of 10, with Painsmith being a difficult boss. Eric mentions that his current off-tank, Scott, is taking a break from the game, so he is training Matt to be his new off-tank, and Nick asks questions about how transitioning amongst off-tanks works. Eric also laughs about an item he found in Patch 9.1 - a Teleporter Repair Kit which talks about righty-tighty, lefty-loosy being universal, but Eric, as a mechanic, cites examples that are contrary.
Harv hasn't had much time to play but he is at renown 42 now.
Nick talks about the Sapphire Skyblazer Mount which is available with a 6-month subscription or for purchase in the store. He tries to guess what else the developers could be working on to match the mount.
This week's question of the week is what did you think of Garrosh's fate in the raid?
Nick looks back at episode #89 when the gang ran Siege of Orgrimmar and Nick tried to tame Thok.

  • Squad Goals #9: Let's Talk About Wrex, Baby
Nick, Chip, and Kura are back to talk about Wrex and the Genophage in the Mass Effect Legendary Edition. Nick starts off talking about how the origins of the Krogan-Rachni War, but Chip corrects him and points out that the Salarian lifted up the Krogan and brought them in to fight the Rachni. They talk about how Tuchanka, the Krogran homeworld is a tough place to survive, and as such, a high fertility rate for the Krogan made sense on their planet. Taking the Krogan out into space and letting them colonize other, less harsh planets meant that more Krogran could survive, and thus they attacked an Asari settlement in their quest to expand. They discuss the Krogan Rebellion, and they talk about how the Turian were discovered behind the Krogan, and were able to be brought into the conflict. Meanwhile, the Salarian developed the genophage to restrict Krogan reproduction to about one in a thousand, which has left the Krogan on the verge of extinction. The squad compares the harshness of the punishment to concepts like incarceration as far as the magnitude of punishment.
Next, they talk about Wrex and his role on the team. They discuss how he joined the party at C-Sec, and then how he takes a while to open up to Shepard. They discuss Shepard's encounter where they misspeak about the genophage and Wrex puts the Commander in their place. The group also talks about Wrex trying to take responsibility for the genophage but being attacked by his father and having to kill him because of it. They also talk about Wrex's exploits, including the time he has a brush with Saren and his fight against an Asari Commando that destroyed a space station. They review Wrex's quest for his family armor which involves raiding a base and killing Tonn Actus.

  • WoW! Talk! #188: The Patch 9.1 Quiz
Nick, Rei, Eric, and Harv are back to talk about the latest in World of Warcraft news! Patch 9.1 is coming so its time for the Patch 9.1 quiz! But first, Rei talks about how Order of Corrupted Souls is picking up with more guild members looking to do stuff with other guild members in chat. Eric talks about how with Sire Denathrius down and the raid about to be over, the guild spent an evening doing PVP, which, as a Blood DK, he was able to do fairly well at. He never died once and they did several runs on Cooking Impossible and also an Alterac Valley and some Ashran. Harv, meanwhile, has not been playing Burning Crusade Classic and instead is playing retail. He was getting covenant ranks with relative ease and is already at 33. Nick said that Harv should be able to get to rank 40 pretty quickly in Patch 9.1, if not before then.
Finally, its time for the Patch 9.1 Quiz. Please play along at home!
After the quiz, Nick addresses two quick controversies from recent developer interviews. First, he talks about how Shards of Domination will only fit into certain gear in certain slots, and players will need to recraft some legendaries if there is competition for a certain slot. He wants to wait to see the system in place to criticize it, but it certainly sounds inefficient. Then, he talks about a comment made during an interview about story regarding that the plot for 9.1 came together earlier this year, after Shadowlands had launched. He points out that narratives are often put together on the fly but the main points are known ahead of time, and this is normal behaviour.
Next week's question of the week is "How are you enjoying Patch 9.1?"
Finally, we look back at WoW! Talk! Number 88, when Gamescom was coming and the keyart had a strange girl in it.
