Mavs Outsiders

The Mavs completed a 3-0 week moving to 21-16 on the season. They are currently the 4 seed in the West and, with 6 wins in a row, the Mavs are the hottest team in the West. We did hit the easy part of the schedule and will be tested this coming week but it was nice to see the team pile up some wins, get Wood into the starting lineup, and see Luka making history.

In this episode, Reese and Bibs recap the week, lay out their podcast and personal goals for the year, then get into the weekly segments.

The Mavericks win their 5th game in a row and are suddenly the hottest team in the Western Conference! They are also the second-hottest team in the league (behind the Brooklyn Nets) after their win against the Houston Rockets.

The Mavs lost to the Rockets without Luka, then barely beat them after a Luka 50 piece so there was no telling how this game would go. Fortunately, it went as best as we could have hoped. The game was in hand heading into the 4th quarter despite the Mavs still being short-handed and Luka continued to roll with a 30-point triple-double through 3.

The 20-16 Mavs will play the Spurs on Saturday.

Wow! What a ride. The Mavs get a little bit more cushion above .500 after a win against the New York Knicks. What should have been a much easier night turned into a miraculous victory but a win is a win. Luka's 60-21-10 line is something not even Wilt Chamberlain ever did and that tells you everything you need to know.

Needing 50 to beat Houston and 60 to beat the Knicks with no Brunson or RJ Barrett is embarrassing but F it. We ball.

Bibs and Reese are back after a big 3-1 week where the Mavs saw themselves move to 18-16. They're still dealing with a lot of injuries including new ones to Dorian Finney-Smith, Frank Ntilikina, and Kemba Walker but where there's a Luka there's a way.

With 2022 coming to an end the Outsiders marked the occasion by talking about their first full year doing the podcast and discussing some goals they hit. They also put out a call for listeners to mention their favorite moments or episodes and read those off as well.

Finally, they ended with their weekly segments.

The Mavericks move back to .500 after getting the win over the Wolves in Game 2. Rudy Gobert returned as did Tim Hardaway Jr. and after a hard-fought game the Mavs pulled out the W.

Blood Moon Bullock hit a few big shots, Christian Wood had a big block, and Luka hit clutch free throws in this one as we prepare for a return to Houston on Friday.

The Mavs are below .500 again after losing to a shorthanded Minnesota Timberwolves team. The Mavs have their own injury situation and Luka was ejected in the 3rd quarter but the team looked flat all night.

The Mavs will play the Wolves again on Wednesday and we'll hope for a better showing.

After 30 games the Dallas Mavericks sit at a very mid 15 and 15. With an impressive win over the Blazers, taking care of business against the Thunder, and losing to the Cavs in embarrassing fashion and then in impressive fashion when they should have been blown out this week had it all.

In this episode, Bibs and Reese did talk about the week but there were a lot of side conversations. Some were cut but some were put at the end.

Luka and Spencer got a rest night. Josh, Dwight, and Maxi are hurt. That meant Kemba, Wood, and the gang were going to be going into Cleveland and nobody was excited about this.

We were wrong though as Kemba and Wood showed up and made it a game.

The Dallas Mavericks get a big win at home over the Portland Trail Blazers. The Blazers were not short-handed in this one so this win is a big deal. Luka and the gang not having to play over 30 minutes on the first night of a back-to-back means they should have more in the tank for Cleveland as well.

The Mavs get their first win in a game where Christian Wood played over 28 minutes which was a twitter topic of discussion during the week. Kemba Walker played real minutes and Frank Ntilikina looked like a ball player.

Bibs and Reese discuss.

The Mavs continue their back-and-forth ways by dropping a game to the Cleveland Cavaliers. The team is now 14-14 and you can pretty much predict what the issues will be game to game without watching the games right?

Reese and Bibs still mustered up the strength to give you another recap, so...
