Mavs Outsiders

The Dallas Mavericks lost to the Washington Wizards without Porzingis AGAIN. This time it means that the Mavs finally fall from their perch as the 5 seed down to the 7 seed. The Mavs are 1 game away from being 11th in the West with teams they're fighting for position coming up on the schedule.

Reese and Bibs talk about it...

The Dallas Mavericks went 1-2 on the week. They are still in the 5 spot in the West and they do not lose ground since every team ahead of them is also losing. But they are giving ground to the three teams behind them who are all winning. With the week ending, the Mavs are now 0.5 games ahead of the Clippers, just 1 full game ahead of the Warriors and Wolves and 1.5 games ahead of the Jazz, Suns and Thunder.

This coming week the Mavs will play the Wizards before facing the Suns and Jazz who could each possibly be passing us in the standings if we lose either game. A sobering thought.

Bibs and Reese sat down to talk about the week with these things in mind and ended up talking about other things more than the Mavs. Most of which were basketball related though so there's that.

The Mavs are back in the win column after making short work of the Miami Heat. They're pretty firmly holding onto the 5 spot in the West with a little breathing room between themselves and the Warriors while giving a little breathing room to the Pelicans. Bibs and Reese recap the game and then address some other things that came up on the TL.

We're back on our recap game! The Mavs played the Atlanta Hawks and it was a game with a lot of offense but no defense. Therefore, the boys didn't spend too much time talking about the game. We did hit on every piece of trade speculation that is occurring and participated in a trade deadline series with our network partners. See which pieces were offered to the Mavs by the Hornets.

Coming into the week, Reese and Bibs were feeling moderately good about how the team has been playing despite their injuries so the 1-3 week was a bit sobering. The Mavs came into the week as the 4 seed in the West and now sit a game and a half back of the 4 seed Kings (which was so weird to type).

It has been a wild season in the Western Conference and there is no telling how things will shake out from here. The Mavs beat the Lakers but lost to the Clippers, then twice to the Blazers on their road trip. The team will head back home now with a freshly injured Tim Hardaway Jr., and a rested Luka Doncic and will hope for some reinforcements to arrive soon.

They'll have two days off following the back-to-back and we will see if they can get back on track in the AAC.

We are BACK after the unplanned hiatus. Between the games being late for us here on the East Coast and Bibs having to actually commute to work this week, recording mid-week just couldn't happen. However, you'll get back-to-back episodes here to make up for it so don't get mad at us.

The Mavs took a tough loss to the Blazers in this one and fell to 5th in the West standings with the Kings now moving ahead of them. A weird sentence to be typing halfway through the season.

It's hard to believe but we are already halfway through the NBA season. Through 41 games the Mavs sit at a more than respectable 23-18 which is good enough for 4th in the Western Conference. Getting homecourt advantage in the playoffs will be huge but we'll see how the second half of the season plays out.

In the meantime, Bibs and Reese wanted to reflect on their expectations for the guys on the team, Jason Kidd, and the front office and decide how they've done thus far. We also asked for your input and read those results live on the podcast.

Of course, we closed the podcast out with our weekly segments.

The Dallas Mavericks avenged their early season loss to the shorthanded Pelicans and continue to hold their top 4 spot in the Western Conference standings. The team moves to 23-17 with the game against the Thunder marking the halfway point of the season. Jason Kidd promised early Hardy minutes and actually delivered.

Reese and Bibs break it down.

The Dallas Mavericks' 7 game-winning streak ended today after a loss to the Boston Celtics. Anyone with any grasp of reality likely saw this coming but if you mentioned it on Twitter ahead of this game you are a bad person. Sarcasm.

The Dallas Mavericks have won 7 in a row for the first time since the 2010-2011 season. They finish a stretch of easy games however and will play the Celtics and Pelicans next.

It was a come-from-behind victory that saw Luka dramatically change his play from one half to the next and Wood had a huge 5 block game.
