  • Game Recap: Who Were We Kidding. We Knew It Would Not Last

    The Mavericks snatched defeat from the jaws of victory in this one. After going up by 16 against the Memphis Grizzlies, having a mediocre coach came to bite us as no adjustments were made amidst a huge Memphis run. Then, once adjustments were made, they were adjustments that made no sense.

    Kyrie and Jaden Hardy, our only creators, were hobbled and Jason Kidd thought it was a great idea to let them take turns playing iso ball while the others were scared to do anything at all.

    In the end, Memphis wanted this game more and they went out and took it.

  • Weekly Roundup: Mavs On A Win Streak, Will It Continue?

    In this week's episode of the Mavs Outsiders podcast, things are not looking so terrible for the first time in a long time. The Mavericks defeated the Spurs and the Lakers to finish the week and they got Kyrie back from injury. Kyrie is still listed as questionable for Monday's game but the fact that he played is a good sign of things to come.

    While the Mavs wait for Luka Doncic to return to health, they are also getting consistent contributions from other guys. One of those guys being Josh Green whose confidence appeared to have waned before he was forced into a larger role. While you never want to be without your stars, perhaps the injuries are a blessing in disguise for the team in the long run.

    Of course, everything is not perfect. While Jason Kidd did experiment with two-big lineups and was rewarded for it with huge Powell and Wood games, there's no telling what Kidd will do as the team gets healthy. We're all just along for the ride at this time but at least we're having a little fun now.

      • Game Recap: J&J Shine In Another Loss
        The Dallas Mavericks are officially below .500 on the season with 13 games remaining. They remain 8th in the West but are now a full game behind the Wolves and two games behind the Clippers and Warriors. On the other end of the spectrum, they are only a half-game ahead of the Lakers, Pelicans, and Thunder and one game ahead of the Jazz.
        To recap, the Mavs are 1 game away from 12th in the West and yet 2 games away from 5th. Every game counts.

      • Weekly Roundup: Time To Stop Kidding Around
        The Dallas Mavericks have fallen to .500 at 34 - 34 with 14 games left. Their playoff odds are down to 52% and their two stars are dealing with injuries. While some discuss whether or not Mavs Twitter is part of the actual fanbase, those of us who only get to interact with other Mavs fans online deal with the reality of the situation. Something has to change.
        Our favorite pain point of the post-All-Star break era reared its head again with Christian Wood managing to only see 15 minutes in a game where Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving were absent. He scored 14 points and went 6/6 from the line during those 15 minutes but was not in to help close as the offense sputtered. However, a new question emerged.
        Jaden Hardy, the rookie who recently mentioned asking Josh Green for advice on staying ready while not getting minutes, got the start in this game. Meanwhile, Frank Ntilikina and Theo Pinson, who have played recently, did not see the court at all. Does this mean that Hardy should have been in the rotation all along? Reese and Bibs get into both major questions concerning Kidd's rotations.
        To begin the episode, Reese and Bibs took a minute to talk about happy things namely the BibsCorner Movie Awards for 2022. There are some spoilers for the awards so if you want to listen to the episode and be surprised by the results you can skip ahead once we start talking about movies.

      • Weekly Roundup: What Is Jason Kidd Cooking?
        The Dallas Mavericks capped off a 1-2 week with a loss to the Phoenix Suns. After also losing to the Indiana Pacers this week, the Mavs failed twice against familiar foes. Sandwiched between those losses was a win over the Philadelphia 76ers and even the losses came down to the wire. The Mavs simply have some things to figure out.
        In this week's episode, Bibs and Reese focused on the Suns game specifically when breaking down the decisions they believe Jason Kidd is making that may be costing the team games. It is clear that playing defense will remain a struggle as long as the Mavericks remain without a true defensive anchor. But is Kidd truly putting this team in the best position to win every night? The Outsiders don't believe so.
        Finally, as we do every week, Bibs and Reese closed out the show with their weekly segments. The Fantasy League is moving into its last week and the $100 Grand Prize is on the line. We are close to having all of the playoff teams decided but there is still some maneuvering to do for seeding.
        Reese then delivers a surprising Unsung Hero of the Week before the pair close out the show with the Weekly Forecast.
