MBA (Movies, Books, and Albums)

In this episode we explore the 1964 cult classic, Dr Strangtelove, Or How I learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb.

Starring Peter Sellers and George C Scott, and Directed by Stanley Kubrick.

This episode may be cursed – the first recording was unusable due to a technology glitch, and then Dave was ambushed by frosty golden refreshments before the 2nd recording… but we persevered.

Welcome back to the MBA Podcast... sorry for the wait.

This episode is different. Instead of exploring the rabbit holes and side streets around movies, books, and albums, tonight’s departure point is the Northwood School reunion weekend. We explore some history of our rivals on the weekend's sports fields, the indomitable Maritzburg College, after quickly devolving into an unstructured chose your own adventure. If you’ve made it this far in Season 1, you’ll be just fine. Enjoy the podcast.

Welcome back to the MBA Podcast where each week, or there about, we explore the side streets and rabbit holes around movies books and albums.

This week we explore the 2025 installment of Rian Johnson’s Knives Out Franchise and the adventures of Benoit Blanc with Wake Up Dead Man. (Which incidentally is probably what Rian Johnson would have called the Rise of Skywalker if he was given access to another Star Wars film… but I digress…and I promised Dave and Dev I was not going to bring The Last Jedi up again.)  Enjoy the Podcast!

During the adventure we visit the outback no less than two times, to investigate murders on the mudflats and the Great Emu War of 1932. We also learn about ritual mutilation from 19th and 20th Century German University Dueling and even some new Christmas carol facts.

The departure point for this December Road Trip Bumper Episode is Wes Anderson’s 2024 retelling of Roald Dahl, in “The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar, and Three more”.

We had optimistically planned for a light 20 minute episode to fit the remaining "Free-Hosting" time budget for the month... Alas! Roald Dahl happened.

As always, this is not a review, we pull the threads that tickle our curiosity and follow the rabbit holes where they lead. Enjoy the podcast.
