Today I learned about Charity: Water. I came across this Charity Organization from watching an episode of AskGaryVee. The guest of that episode was Scott Harrison the founder of Charity Water. Scott talked about how many people across the globe didn’t have access to clean. He talked about how people walk up to 8 hours a day to collect water from lakes and ponds. He talked about how girls have to sacrifice their education to use their days collecting water for their family. I was really intrigued. Water to me has been something that I didn’t think about. It was always available. To think that there are so many people around the world who saw water as a scare resource was surprising to me. From what I found this is a fantastic organization. What I like most about this charity is that 100% of all donations go straight to funding water projects. I like that my donations are purely being used for what they are intended for. Another thing I like about this charity is that it is just such a fantastic cause. It’s so simple. Water is one of things that are so necessary to life. It is indispensable. The work that this charity is doing can’t be understated. An interesting thing I found with donating to this Charity is that each time I do so I grow a deeper appreciation for water. Water literally taste better to me now. I treat it more and more like s sacred resource. This is a fantastic Charity.

Today I learned about the benefits of taking naps. I realized one day how I was all about doing, achieving, and moving in some direction. I realized one day how reactive I was. Somebody would stare at me and I would instantly get upset. It always seemed like I’m on the edge. I didn’t like that. I didn’t like how exhausted I would always feel. It dawned upon me from prior experience to invest just 5 minutes into putting my head down closing my eyes and relaxing. As soon as I did this there was an internal struggle. My brain was unsure of what to focus on. But that internal struggle faded. After my 5 minutes was up I felt engergized and had higher focus. It was interesting. There was a dramatic rise in my mental acuity. I wondered why I stopped practicing this habit? The answer became obvious, it makes one stand out. I stopped taking naps while I was in the library because of quips I would get. Now a little bit better at handling people I know this is something I want to practice again. The benefit is so clear. 5 minutes of napping gives me more energy and more focus. I also get a more relax manner. I’m not so quick to react to negativity like I was. It seems as though I’m more capable with brushing things off have holding firm to a relaxed manner. I’m more able to ignore things. It’s interesting. I never looked at resting as a skill. But the more I take naps it seems the better I get at it. Take naps gives more time to think as well. In between work breaks I’m able to consider things more and really evaluate what I’m doing.

Today I learned that cleaning room makes me more practical. Through this semester I’ve realized how I got ahead of myself. I realized how I forgot how easy it is to discard the fundamentals of what push me further than I was. Right now my grades aren’t a true representation of who I am. This is because until very recently I put working on myself before completing my school work. My thinking with this was that the more I improve upon myself my grades would improve as well. So I put practicing disciplines that had nothing to do with my course material before studying and completing assignments. It’s impressive how many times I’ve made such a mistake in my life in many different ways. I always heard a voice in the back of my head that I was going about it the wrong way but it wasn’t until I saw my midterm grades that I got the kick that needed to make a dramatic change. This realization all came about as I was cleaning up my room. From doing so I saw how as time passes and action occurs small messes occur. These messes don’t make themselves apparent because they are spaced out. Though when they brought together it is obvious that they have a considerable effect on their surrounds. For me this small mess was the habit taking my school work lightly. Through cleaning up my room more I’m more rooted in reality. I see that messes are made all the time. And if they are not taken care of when they are small it will be exponentially more difficult to take care of then when they are large.

I found this to be a very powerful form of motivation. For whatever reason it seems that I can dig deeper within myself to push through when I have the thought in mind of proving the people wrong whom communicated directly or indirectly that I was not of equal value. When I first came up with this idea I noticed negative thoughts kept sprouting in my mind. I was amazed at how I far back I could remember all the things that honestly hurt me. I found myself getting angry because I would relive those moments of betrayal. This negatively affected my work. I would push myself too hard and get burnt out. I later found that by getting angry about how people treated me in the past I was only convicing myself futher that they were right. If I truly believe that I am of equally value to anyone then there is nothing to be mad about. If I truly believe that I am of equal value to anyone than the people who treated me in a way that says otherwise are just wrong. And I can showed that that they are wrong every single day. In the smallest of things that I do and in the largest of things that I do. It’s not about holding a vendetta at all. It’s about carrying out a simple truth. That truth is that I’m just as good as anybody. That truth is that human beings are remarkable creatures. Everybody has gifts inside them just waiting to be utilized. It takes mental strength to carry this out. It’s more easier to think negative. It’s more easier to put somebody down. But with practice the one can get good at extracting the positive. I found now that the negative experiences that I have are now opportunities to pull positive motivation from. I see them now as an incentive to dig deeper in myself because by doing that I’m reaffirming to myself and to reality that I am just as good as anyone.
