MC with MEi episodes

  • Mohawk Convocation

My work as the announcer at all Mohawk College Convocation ceremonies is my greatest challenge as a speaker and comes with the greatest rewarding feeling inside....here is its story....

MC with MEi - "The Dailies" are available Monday to Friday! They are a spoon-off of my MC with Mei - The Podcast and The PodCourse; they are short daily hits on current happenings I have engaged in or that have been brought to my attention either on my Twitter feed @MCwithMEi or through my website www.masterofvceremonies.ca. I keep these short and focused and have both an educational and entertainment value so they are easy to absorb or digest.

  • Colours of Chaos

MC with MEi is "The Podcast", The PodCourse" and now I offer to you "The Dailies". These are short hits that feature event experiences I have recently had or they come from your questions or discussion points forwarded to me through Twitter @MCwithMEi or through my website access at www.masterofceremonies.ca. Today is an event I love and respect but which causes massive headaches due to lack of communication. This is how I handled it.

  • Art House

This Daily deals with an event I did recently where all the logistics were provided and the organizer decided NOT to meet with me ahead of time due to their schedule. Then behind her back, participants in her agenda came to me to change the order of things because she was not available to anyone as it turned out. This is how I handled this so that the event was a massive success and no one was the wiser.

  • Welcome to The Dailies

This is the start of a series of Daily shorts. Each will have a different topic and will be based on either an event I had just been a Master of Ceremonies for or will be from a question asked on Twitter or through my site.

  • The Wedding (Part 2)

MC with Mei was always designed to ultimately be an audio and interactive course in public speaking, specializing for the Master of Ceremony. With the completion of this episode, the MC with MEi 20-episode podcast evolves into the 20-volume on-line course, available on-line anytime to everyone wherever you have been following me already. However, at www.masterofceremonies.ca you will have access to the transcripts of each episode and to me anytime online. So let's wrap this up; today we root out the behind the scenes work that we do as Masters of Ceremonies for a wedding that, because nobody has a clue is even happening, undervalue the necessity of looking beyond a DJ or invited guest to represent the biggest day in the lives of 2 people, 2 families and a history of friends. Sounds insane, I know; this is why we're here.

  • Coming up this week: The Finale!

The Wedding is where we close our 20-episode podcast odyssey called MC with MEi. This week we deep into the roots beneath the obvious. There is so much that a Master of Ceremonies is responsible for that happens behind the scenes and therefore is never is even seen or known about by anyone considering who acts as their Master of Ceremonies at their wedding. I show you with detail why what we do is simply impossible for a DJ or an invited guest. Let's wrap this up!!

  • The Wedding (Part 1)

This is it! The 2-part finale what has been a 20-episode season called "MC with MEi". This week and next we dedicate all focus on the ONE event that happens millions of times a day all over the world, The Wedding. I will outline to future Masters of Ceremonies just what it takes to excel at this very specialized category of opportunity AND make it crystal clear to brides, grooms, and wedding coordinators just why it is critical you have a true Master of Ceremonies at the mic for your once-in-a-lifetime occasion that you will want to remember fondly forever. We've all been to the wedding reception that everyone laughed about afterward for how awful it was and it is normally because the person on the mic was woefully incapable of living up to the requirements. If you are a DJ or invited guest who has been tapped to be a wedding MC, you need these 2 episodes. I'm here to help!

  • Coming up in Episode 19

We now enter the finale of this phase of MC with MEi, The Podcast. We close with a special 2-part look at the Master of Ceremonies for the most personal and critical of events; The Wedding. Ironically The Wedding is the one event opportunity that happens with the greatest frequency of any event anywhere in the world, and for the 2 people hosting it, the 2 families who have been waiting for this their whole lives and the friends who have been a part of these lives for years, it is THE single most important event they will host or attend ever; but when it comes to who has the mic and therefore ultimate control over representing this colossal occasion and everyone present.....most turn to whoever is the most convenient option. Insane? Yes. Avoidable? Yes.

  • The Theme Night

Never ever underestimate the scope and precariousness of a Themed event. It may on the surface appear like a good bit of fun in costume. BUT if you ignore the many critical details I discuss today in this episode, you will find out real quick that you are woefully unprepared. Let's not have that happen to you. I the following 20 short minutes, I cover tips techniques and hidden secrets that normally you are only aware of when you've been at this a long time. And I offer case study examples from my own work, including mistakes I've made that I do not want anyone else making because they are too easy to fall into. Welcome Aboard the Theme Night!

  • Coming Up in Episode 18

This Monday we hit up all that goes into when organizers hire you and say "Hey, let's do a theme night". There is this razor thin edge on which these events teeter on either "Fabulous" or "Failure" and that rests with he Master of Ceremonies. If ever there was a reason to hire a professional, this is the episode to listen to. If ever an emcee needed to make sure they didn't underestimate an event's potential and scope; this is THAT episode.

About MC with MEi

From the publisher's feed

It seems the Master of Ceremony is always the last thing every function remembers to plan for. It is frightening how many times shows start late, run long and are otherwise mismanaged when it comes…
