Me Clicking RECord with Dane Curley episodes

  • Episode 30 - Extraterrestrials

Extraterrestrials: Unscripted, just how you like them. Dane makes his way through a few Arthur C. Clarke scifi-novel recommendations as he considers their possibly real alien counterparts, exploring two prominent encounters humans have had in recent years. He talks about the 2004 'Tic Tac' UFO sighting that predated and possibly inspired the latest Pentagon UFO Report, and of Oumuamua, which has at least one Harvard astronomer-physicist convinced. Are they truly extraterrestrial in origin? How can we know for sure?

Along the way, Dane engages in several ridiculous comic voices and even attempts - badly - to sing a random Steven Tyler song that came to mind somewhere along his riff. On the more intelligent side of things, he also considers the military technology angle for one such UFO.

  • Episode 27 - Bubbly Money

Dane explores the history of money as told by Saifedean Ammous's book The Bitcoin Standard, available here. He explains the difference between Hard and Easy money, which kinds of money "bubble" (and why), and shares lots of fun historical examples about kinds of money that... abruptly stopped being money. We also compare Silver with Gold, and the US Dollar to Bitcoin. It's Bubbly Money time!

  • BONUS 2 - When Someone Great is Gone

Dane dives into "Someone Great," a song by LCD Soundsystem, sharing it with listeners as a useful tool for reflection in the context of the loss of "someone great." As with most of MCREC's Songs of the Day to Check Out, he sings it and talks about its lyrics in depth. As this episode does not have the usual joyful candor of most MCREC episodes, and deals with themes of grief and loss, Dane decided it should be branded a "Bonus" episode.

  • Episode 26 - Human-Animal Hybrids Part 2: The Human Soul

Holy human-cow! It's the longest episode of Me Clicking RECord, yet! It's Part Deux of MCREC's discussion on Human-Animal Hybrids, and we're focusing on how to satisfy the criteria for having a Soul.

Dane talks about the hesitancy of mainstream media to report on human-animal hybrid experimentation, shares a surprisingly accurate article from infamous conspiracy theorist Alex Jones's "Prison Planet" publication, follows up with NPR's take on the same subject, discusses one of the best Star Trek episodes of all time (regarding the nature of what beings have souls), reminisces about doggies, speaks out against the Communist Party of China's organ harvesting of (Falun Gong) political prisoners, and much, much more.

It's a far-reaching conversation that covers a wide, wide range of interesting concepts, bizarre & scary facts, and ultimately aims toward generating more compassion in the world.

Special thanks to our Patreon supporter @fatbirdthings for his listener-question about souls. Support us on Patreon today, and ask your question, next!

  • Episode 25 - Genius

Feeling under the weather and sounding nasally, Dane makes his MCREC comeback on the subject of genius. He discusses the "loosey goosey" definition of genius as compared to the Einstein magnitude of genius, and shares facts about how Einstein's brain was literally different from other human brains. This episode kicks off with a Song of the Day to Check Out by Neil Young.

  • Episode 24 - Pokemon, Bitcoin, and Capitol Riots

Dane covers the speculative markets of Pokemon & Magic the Gathering cards, as well as Bitcoin, before moving on (about half-way in) to discuss the Capitol Riots. Thereafter he talks about Donald Trump's banning from social media and other Refusals of Service directed at the Trump campaign and family (forgetting actually to mention that the PGA Tour cancelled their stint at his course). That introduces a discussion of Free Enterprise vs Free Speech, and the Paradox of Universal Freedom. Dane mentions a Song of the Day to Check Out and recites words by George Carlin regarding the fact that You Have No Rights!

  • Episode 23 - Two Finnegans Wakes

A podcast about the Gift of Gab. Listeners be prepared to encounter two Fin-agains. "Finnegan's Wake," the song of unknown Irish-American authorship, 1860s New York, and Finnegans Wake, James Joyce's paradoxical, much hated and loved literary magnum opus. Don't worry, Dane makes it fun. Don't expect an axademic lexture. Enjoy ye'self.
