What is meditation anyway? Sitting with your eyes closed and humming? Breathing? Meditation is a very special practice that helps you come into the present moment - that means this moment right now - so you can relax and connect to your true self. I’m Katie and years ago, when my girls were babies, I started a family of podcasts called the Women’s Meditation Network. Throughout the years as my girls have grown, many of the meditations I’ve created have been for them, meditations that had important messages I wanted them to hear or were fun, calming visualizations I knew they would love. Here on Meditation for Kids, I want to share them with you too and I hope you love them as much as they do! Â
If you’re new to meditation and you think you may not be able to get your body or your mind to stay still, don’t worry. It’s completely okay to move around if you need or even play these meditations in the background while you’re doing something. For the first year of practicing meditation with my oldest daughter, she would jump around on the bed while the meditation played! Eventually, she became familiar with the routine and was able to settle down to listen. What’s most important is that you just keep coming back to practice with me.Â
Now, I invite you to go through the library of meditations here and choose one that jumps out at you. And remember that we have another podcast, Sleep Meditation for Kids, for you as well.Â
The light in me honors the light in you…
