Interview
Dr. Lauryn: [00:00:27] Well, hello, hello, hello! I’m so excited to have Dr. Terry Wahls in the house today. And Dr. Wahls is someone that I admire and respect so much as a leading physician in the immune-boosting movement. She’s really geared at helping empower patients and people to take their health back into their own hands through nutrition and lifestyle.
And she lives and breathes and eats what she teaches just by being a byproduct herself of her own protocols that she’s developed over the years and overcoming, or sending her multiple sclerosis into remission, through nutrition and lifestyle. So, Dr. Terry, I’m so happy that you came on, and I know you have a new updated edition of your book.
Dr. Wahls: [00:01:19] Yeah, my baby.
Dr. Lauryn: [00:01:21] How long has the book been around now?
Dr. Wahls: [00:01:24] Well it came out March 17th. The original edition came out in March 2014. So it’s six years ago. And so it’s really time to get it updated with the new science and how my thinking has evolved during that time period.

In 2000, I developed weakness in my left leg. I got a big evaluation and was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. Now I knew I wanted to treat my disease very aggressively because MS is a progressive disorder. And so I did some research, found the best MS center I could find in the country, saw their best people, took the newest drugs, and went relentlessly downhill.
Now, within two years, my Cleveland Clinic physicians mentioned the work of Loren Cordain. I read his books, his papers, and after a lot of prayer and meditation, I decided to go back to eating meat. I gave up all grain, all legumes, all dairy. I continued to go downhill. The next year I needed a wheelchair. I took more aggressive drugs and moved on to even the new biologic drugs and, relentlessly went downhill. It was very clear that the best science, the best drugs, best technology was probably not going to stop or march towards a bedroom, possibly demented, possibly intractable pain life. Because I have trigeminal neuralgia and had already had that for 20 years...
