The episode where Clayton cries.
Clayton and his friend Mike from his days at Purdue University get into the adaption of Cheryl Strayed's memoir - Wild. We praise Reese Witherspoon's brave performance, the authenticity of the writing, and how important films and stories like this are. Clayton gets more open and honest than he does even with his therapist about the struggles of heroin addiction, and the battles during recovery. We both talk about the importance of being able to forgive yourself, and giving yourself the freedom to live.
Even if you aren't familiar with Cheryl's story, I urge you to give this episode a listen. Addiction is such a misunderstood topic, and the "othering" of addicts is a real problem. If you are struggling with addiction, or have ever known someone who was an addict, listen to this. You just might get some insight into what it's like, and that there is hope on the other side.
"What if heroin taught me something? What if all those things I did were the things that got me here? What if I was never redeemed? What if I already was."

Clayton sat down with Schmigadoon superfan - Youtube's Broadway by Ghostlight - Marc Bonanni to discuss the myriad of things we love that Schmigadoon has given us over it's two seasons to date! You name it, we probably talked about it in this conversation! We praise Cinco Paul's genius songwriting, the cast's stellar performances, Chris Gattelli's amazing choreography, our favorite moments and songs, where we would love to see the series go moving forward, and so much more! This is our biggest episode, don't feel bad if you can't listen all in one sitting - but definitely check it out! This was such a good time to record this, and we could have talked so much longer than we did! Be sure to check out Marc's episode breakdowns and easter eggs on his Youtube channel - SO GOOD! He's also done dance breakdowns with choreographer Chris Gattelli (future Men Who Like Men Who Like Movies guest!) that you don't want to miss!

This week we took an ill-fated trip down the Amazon with the 1997 JLo vehicle - Anaconda! Friend-of-the-pod Brent Waggoner came along to help us express our feelings about this classic creature feature. In this one, we attempt to discern what the hell Jon Voight is doing with his bizarre performance, Shawn is concerned about sharks invading Lake Michigan, and we really dig into the nitty gritty of the state of movie theaters in Indiana. We also think the FX work is quite good, how great this is as an intro to horror for younger viewers, and generally agree that this film is quite fun!

We got the opportunity to review the most inventive and creative film either of us have seen in years - Moon Garden! We praise the remarkable practical effects, the incredible child performance at the heart of the film, and the nightmare fuel of the monstrous creations. This film is terrifying and moving and we urge you to seek it out whenever it becomes widely available!

For our 50th(!) episode, we wanted to do something fun and special for us, so we decided to review the latest Disney live-action adaptation - The Little Mermaid. We break down our thoughts on how Disney did with this one, and compare it with the animated classic we all know and love. We praise Halle Bailey's embodiment of Ariel, Melissa McCarthy's impressive Ursula, how funny Awkwafina's Scuttle was, and comment on the beautiful cinematography, the musical choices, and things that took us by surprise. Take this trip under the sea and celebrate 50 episodes with us here at Men Who Like Men Who Like Movies!

This week we're talking bagels and our most recent Best Picture winner Everything, Everywhere, All At Once. Along for this journey into the multiverse is returning guest Russell Garrett on loan from the Drafty Quarters Podcast Network! This is a crazy film, and the conversation is every bit as ridiculous. We discuss raisin bread sandwich abominations, Clayton shares a nihilistic shrooms experience, we dig deep on the things and characters that we connect with the most strongly, ask the big questions like which would be worse - being turned into confetti or being beaten to death by dildos, Backstreet Boys/Britney vs *NSync/Christina - and disagree on how watchable Succession is. The bagel will show you the true nature of things!
This week, we're talking about feet, I mean From Dusk Till Dawn! Joining us to talk about this Rodriguez/Tarantino classic is Mike from the People Under the Scares podcast! Among the plethora of things we discuss we talk about Salma Hayek's enduring sex appeal, Juliette fucking Lewis being Juliette Lewis, having your balls stepped on, and of course, the many different types of pussy available at the Titty Twister (including what kind we each would be)!
