Some people think when it comes to happiness inside of RELATIONSHIPS & MARRIAGES it doesn't matter which spouse is the breadwinner, because LOVE & COMPATIBILITY are more important than the FINANCES. However traditionally men have been the primary BREADWINNERS in marriage, but that trend is changing and according to the Center for American Progress 67.3% or MARRIED WOMEN work outside the home in the U.S. As women gain more earning potential, there are more cases of women out earning their significant other. Men with an above AVERAGE INCOME will commonly marry a woman in a lower income bracket, even in cases where she is considered poor. When the role is reversed what are the chances that a poor man or one with an average income in comparison to the woman can make her happy? Will she respect him as man, or will his own insecurity sabotage the relationship? Do some women get potential and poor mindset confused? Should a poor or average earning Black man, even be looking for a relationship? MENTAL DIALOGUE asking the questions America's afraid to ask. ALL I ASK IS THAT YOU THINK
It is quite common for SMALL BUSINESS OWNERS to depend on their ACCOUNTANTS to keep them in good graces with the INTERNAL REVENUE SERVICES (IRS), but as revenue increases more oversight is often needed for the accounting practices of the business. Millennial mogul, KELA TAYLOR, is best known among ATLANTA BUSINESS movers and shakers for being the owner of Universal Salon Suites, a 10,000 Sq Ft facility in the midtown area of the city. For all her business success and HIGH EARNINGS in recent years, she recently received IRS TAX PENALTIES in part due to the negligence of her business accountant, and due to her own lack of oversight. TAYLOR has responded to this setback in her usual manner, which is to face it head on and to share the lessons learned along the way with others. When did she pinpoint the accountant's negligence? How does she vet her accountant(s) moving forward? Does she anticipate additional TAX AUDITS of her business now? What recommendations does she have for current & future entrepreneurs? This week's CONVERSATIONS W/ SMART PEOPLE features, husband, father, and successful internet entrepreneur, KWESI BLACK who moved his family from the U.S. to FRANCE in part to escape the recurring themes of RACISM & POVERTY, as well as POLICE BRUTALITY cases like the recent shooting of DAUNTE WRIGHT. KWESI grew up as a wayward youth living out the STREET LIFE many HIP HOP ARTISTS only rap about in their songs and was even shot on a couple occasions. Now he is a savvy internet marketer & businessman showing others how to create MULTIPLE PASSIVE INCOME STREAMS while living anywhere in the world. Due to his Love for BLACK PEOPLE, he constantly talks about the need for BLACK MEN, specifically, to rid ourselves of our MENTAL SLAVERY, just as he did, to become the HUSBANDS & FATHERS necessary to protect our BLACK WIVES & CHILDREN and compete for our legacies (1st hour). The 2nd hour is OPEN CALL (2nd hour 11:00-12pm EST) where TRUTH SEEKERS can call-in to discuss any topic on their mind (POLICE BRUTALITY, JOHNSON & JOHNSON VACCINE, VIOLENCE IN MINNESOTA, ETC.) Special guests ROBERT PATILLO, host of Atlanta's the People Passion and Politics talk show, along with SHELLEY WYNTERS, co-host of Word On The Street talk show drop by to debate the purpose of the new GEORGIA VOTING LAW. The law has caused quite an uproar nationwide as the DEMOCRATS and LIBERALS liken the changes to the laws used to suppress the BLACK VOTE during JIM CROW, and MAJOR LEAGUE BASEBALL responded by moving its ALL STAR GAME from GEORGIA to COLORADO. Georgia's GOVERNOR KEMP responded by stating these laws increase the opportunities to vote and suggested the MLB incorrectly moved the ALL STAR GAME to COLORADO, a state with the same voting laws as the new GEORGIA LAW. Why change the law now? What is the actual goal of the law? Of all issues why isn't VOTING a BIPARTISAN issue in the 1st place? MENTAL DIALOGUE asking the questions America's afraid to ask. In many cultures around the world, the concept of having a BOYFRIEND/GIRLFRIEND is not part of the DATING or COURTING process, however, in AMERICAN CULTURE it is common to commit to a person and to repeat this process in hopes of marrying one of your BOYFRIENDS/GIRLFRIENDS eventually. Special guest, YIEH SASEKPO, drops by to breaks down the difference between COURTING/DATING in his AFRICAN CULTURE and AMERICAN CULTURE. We ask him about those who suggest we are all SINGLE until MARRIED and if the BOYFRIEND/GIRLFRIEND concept is a trick played on WOMEN by MEN. Why do they suggest this? What is this "trick" played by men? Is this some outdated concept for DATING/COURTSHIP that no longer applies? Should our SONS not be allowed to have GIRLFRIENDS as well? In the same week that Disney character PEPE LE PEW and several DR, SUESS books were CENSORED, the GRAMMY AWARD'S grand performance came from rap stars, CARDI B & MEGAN THA STALLION, performing WAP, a hit record about their vagina. Special guest, Word On The Street co-host, SHELLEY WYNTER drops by the studio to make heads or tails of CANCEL CULTURE up against the anything goes culture, also prevalent today. The narrative behind WAP is this is a form of BLACK WOMEN'S EMPOWERMENT, while others consider it the exact opposite. PEPE LE PEW a popular DYSNEY character invented in 1945 and popularized through the 80s & 90s as a "ladies’ man" for his relentless pursuit of his love interest has been determined inappropriate today; and publicly denounced, despite rarely making appearances in any recent DYSNEY films. Is this an effective use of CANCEL CULTURE to teach young boys to respect women? If it is considered effective, how do we juxtapose the CENSORSHIP of this character with primetime celebration of BLACK ? MENTAL DIALOUGE asking the questions America’s afraid to ask. In the AFRICAN AMERICAN community SUICIDE is stigmatized as something WHITE PEOPLE do, but in recent years SUICIDE rates have increased among BLACK MEN, and especially BLACK YOUTH. Our special guest and mental health therapist, DR. J PARKER GRIFFIN JR, along with special guest co-host criminal defense attorney and youth advocate ASHLEY JOHNSON-ALFORD drop by to discuss the various stressors BLACK MEN & BLACK YOUTH face and the need for therapy. We ask DR. GRIFFIN what are the key indicators for seeking therapy and what are realistic expectations for therapy. We ask Attorney JOHNSON-ALFORD what impact does she think therapy for BLACK MEN & BLACK YOUTH would have on the CRIMINAL JUSTICE SYSTEM? What about the cost of therapy? How rampant is unresolved MENTAL ILLNESS in the BLACK COMMUNITY? Are there enough AFRICAN AMERICAN providers in the mental health field to truly meet the need? It is often stated that it takes two to make a baby, however in reality the BLAME & RESPONSIBILITY for an UNWANTED PREGNANCY is typically not distributed equally between the man and the woman. Some men say women bear the brunt of the responsibility since they not only choose the men they PROCREATE with, but in many cases, it is their sole choice whether to have the child despite the shortcomings they know the man may have. Many women feel this attitude fuels the environment for some men to take no accountability for their part in the pregnancy. What if the woman had the child in hopes of keeping the man in the relationship? If the man wants to ABORT THE CHILD, but the women goes through with the pregnancy, should she expect support from the FATHER? If the man feels he bore a child with an unfit MOTHER, what steps should he take? Can #healthymarriageb4children alleviate this issue? MENTAL DIALOGUE asking the questions America's afraid to ask.
