Special guest, MARC RANGER, a finance executive at a Fortune 200 company and CEO of Money Motivation, along with special guest, co-host personal finance coach, ASHLEY THOMAS, drops by to discuss RANGER's idea of what a true economic movement within the AFRICAN AMERICAN community might look like. RANGER is a fan of DR. CLAUD ANDERSON, so does he think Anderson's book, POWERNOMICS, written in the year 2000 and its BLACK people must ecnomomically do for ourselves approach is still viable in 2021? What does he think of the founders of the ADOS (American Descenents of Slaves) movement, YVETTE CARNELL & ANTONIO MOORE'S approach pushing for REPARATIONS through the American POLITICAL SYTEMS? Does he think a BLACK ECONOMIC MOVEMENT should include REPARATION or is FINANCIAL LITERACY is enough? MENTAL DIALOGUE asking the questions America's afraid to ask. ALL I ASK IS THAT YOU THINK
Our special guest is cultural critic, SEAN SHEWMAKE aka TOMMY BOTTOMS as we discuss this significant shift in BLACK CULTURE. A year ago, during the PANDEMIC the GEORGE FLOYD murder took place in front of our eyes and the MILLENNIALS took to the streets like the 1960s to battle the COPS and made the whole world take notice. Did their actions lead to significant changes in POLICE REFORM, or was the DEREK CHAUVIN verdict the end? Recently BILL COSBY was released from prison due to the COURTS failure to provide him due process in his RAPE case. COSBY's released sparked controversy within the BLACK COMMUNITY because some felt his release was vindication for not only him, but against America's RACIST judicial systems that has falsely imprison plenty of BLACK MEN in the past. While others felt significant disdain after COSBY'S release because they see him as a rapist being let go because of a technicality; and BLACK CANCEL CULTURE openly went after any of his supporters to include actress PHYLICIA RASHAD. How has BLACK CULTURE change to the point of supporting celebrities such as rapper DMX, no matter their history versus canceling other BLACKS for publicly saying something against the culture, no matter their history of supporting the culture? MENTAL DIALOGUE asking the questions America's Afraid to ask. ALL I ASK IS THAT YOU THINK
Special guest, QUEEN SHEBA, Atlanta School Board Candidate & Grammy Nominated poet joins us to discuss whether LIL NAS X's kiss of another man on the BET AWARDS was a harmless gesture or part of a larger RACIST agenda aimed at EMASCULATING BLACK MEN or a GAY AGENDA aimed at normalizing HOMOSEXUALITY to children? Would this kiss be celebrated had LIL NAS X kissed a woman? Does the BLACK COMMUNITY need to get over its HOMOPHOBIA or is the LGBTQ community pushing unwarranted culture shifts down BLACK AMERICA'S throat? MENTAL DIALOGUE asking the questions America's afraid to ask. ALL I ASK IS THAT YOU THINK
A 30-minute rant between BLACK SOCRATES discussing BILL COSBY'S unexpected release from PRISON for RAPE charges and the divide it causes between some of the WOMEN & MEN in the never ending GENDER WAR within the BLACK COMMUNITY.
MENTAL HEALTH in the BLACK COMMUNTY: We have three amazing therapists DR. MARYHAM JERNIGAN-NOESI, JAREE COTTMAN, a License Certified Social Worker-Clinical (LCSW-C), & Fear Coach DEMECOS CHAMBERS joining the show to discuss how the fear of VULNERABILITY often, not only delays the willingness to get THERAPY, but once in THERAPY how DISHONESTY can also cause individuals or couples to SELF-SABOTAGE their own recovery. How important is to find the right THERAPIST and how do they know the THERAPY is working? For many DIVORCED COUPLES they often tried COUNSELING prior to the divorce, but one spouse will claim the other was still dishonest or in denial about the advice from the therapist. How does the honest spouse best recover after the divorce? How do you know when you should switch THERAPIST and what are the best question to ask when seeking a THERAPIST? MENTAL DIALOGUE asking the questions America's afraid to ask. ALL I ASK IS THAT YOU THINK
In the past HISTORICALLY BLACK COLLEGES AND UNIVERSITIES (HBCUs) regularly put players in the NFL to include Hall of Famers, JERRY RICE & WALTER PAYTON. Our special guest HOWARD UNIVERSITY’s Head Football Coach, LARRY SCOTT, who made headlines this year by turning down NICK SABAN’s offer to be an assistant at ALABAMA, drops by to discuss if he thinks the recent hiring of former NFL players DEION SANDERS at JACKSON ST UNIVERSITY, and EDDIE GEORGE at TENNESSEE STATE UNIVERSITY can help them and other HBCUs to regain some of their former glory. SANDERS also made national headlines recently when he expressed his disappointment that no HBCU football players were selected in this year’s NFL draft. Are our HBCUs unfairly overlooked by potential COLLEGIATE ATHLETES, and will this influx of NFL PLAYERS as coaches improve recruitment & possibly boost enrollment at HBCUs? What competitive advantages does he think HOWARD and other HBCUs offer STUDENT ATHLETES; and ultimately what does he hope to accomplish by remaining at HOWARD? What is CRITICAL RACE THEORY (CRT) & why is it the new outrage in POLITICS & EDUCATION? Special guest, SHELLEY WYNTER, nightly co-host of 95.5 WSB's Word On The Street and special guest co-host, Executive Diversity Consultant, LATRICE ROSS, drop by to discuss CRT in education and why suddenly it has become this divisive POLITICAL ISSUE. Various state legislatures have recently pushed bills to keep the teaching of CRT out of primary education, while others suggest this is a false political narrative to hide the fact that WHITE SUPREMACIST want to WHITEWASH AMERICAN HISTORY to avoid discussing AMERICA'S culpability in its own historical atrocities. Will the teaching of CRT paint all WHITE PEOPLE as OPRESSORS and all NATIVE AMERICANS & AFRICAN AMERICANS as perpetual VICTIMS? Are these legislative bills an attempt to WHITEWASH American History? What will result from teaching America's actual history with RACISM, will it UNIFY or DIVIDE our country? MENTAL DIALOGUE asking the questions America's Afraid to ask. ALL I ASK IS THAT YOU THINK
We often applaud how MARRIED couples in the past would stay together, especially compared to today with the DIVORCE RATE hovering around 50% over the last decade. So, what does it take to defy the odds and stay together in 2021 as special guests, DUANE & ISABEL DRAUGHON, Co-Founders of VizX Design Studios visit the show to discuss the ups and downs of their 19 years of MARRIAGE and if it is still worth it? What were their expectations in the beginning of the MARRIAGE? They now sustain a highly successful business together, but that was not always the case, financially facing hard times, even after scaling a million-dollar business to eventually struggling to pay the mortgage years later. Did those financial hardships put their marriage at risk, and what recommendations do they have for other married couples thinking about starting a business together? DUANE also openly admits their MARRIAGE never had a hierarchy, so what do they think of those who suggest the lack of a hierarchy is the main problem with today's MARRIAGES? Individually what did each of them rely on to get through their tough times, especially those times they discussed DIVORCE? Do they wish their children to marry? There are only on average 12K professional athletes in the entire country, but in the next 10 years Georgia alone has a demand for 70K high paying tech jobs. Special guests IDA BYRD-HILL, CEO of Automation Workz & KAY WOLFE, cybersecurity expert drops by to discuss how the demand for INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY (IT) jobs has opened up an opportunity for the AFRICAN AMERICAN community to reskill and meet that demand. After the recent shutdownof a major U.S. OIL PIPELINE by a foreign CYBER ATTACK the demand for more American born CYBERSECURITY professionals will likely increase. Currently the U.S. population in general is failing to meet the job demands of the INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY (IT) age, because the companies often depend on immigrant IT professionals or even outsource the work altogether to other countries. These immigrant IT PROFESSIONAL often share they were focused on the technology field from a young age in hopes of earning high income to lift the rest of their family out of poverty. This is very similar to how some AFRICAN AMERICAN children are introduced to athletics at an early age and dream of becoming the next KOBE BYRANT or SERENA WILLIAMS. Should we follow the lead of these immigrant IT professionals and push more AFRICAN AMERICAN children into INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY & CYBERSECURITY? I once posted on social media "a lot of us are good with POLYGAMY, but we just don't know it yet." In a world where CHEATING breaks up RELATIONSHIPS/MARRIAGES we bring on Women's Empowerment Coach, LESLEY TAVERNIER aka the "Love Witch" to discuss MONOGAMY & INFIDELITY from her unique perspective. Since TARVERNIER believes men are NON-MONOGAMOUS by nature and currently is in a 10-year OPEN RELATIONSHIP with a NON-MONOGAMOUS man herself she coaches others on understanding this paradigm. We ask her should women just accept this as a fact. Does she think BLACK MEN & WOMEN can create healthier relationships with this understanding? What about those who prefer monogamy, is it realistic? What about women who want to explore different partners, can men accept this? MENTAL DIALOGUE asking the questions America's afraid to ask. ALL I ASK IS THAT YOU THINK
