What I've noticed a lot these past couple weeks is people stress has been reallocated. A very wise, wise friend of mine, Adrian, told me one time when I was kind of stressing about some stuff. When I was starting a failing business or a business ended up failing, they told me he said, Man, he said, There there is a finite amount of stress in the world. It's going to go somewhere you'll never be without it. You will always have some form of stress, he said. The key is you gotta figure out which stresses worth absorbing and dealing with. And which dress must you let go to reallocate that somewhere else? And so that's always stuck with me because to me, it makes sense because if, for example, if you're stressed about money, well, if you're stressed about money, you're not stressed about your health, you're not stressed about your kids having a good life or you're not stressed about your job, you know?
So there are different buckets to replace to stress in. I think that what we're going through right now is the stress has been reallocated from the things that were quote-unquote normal 23 months ago, you know, to more basic almost more primitive stressors like Okay, is it safe to go get groceries right? When should I go get groceries? When there's gonna be fewer people at the store, so on and so forth. And so, you know, I think that what really stood out to me this whole time is stress. And so what I want to talk a little bit about is that is, is how do we factor what stresses in our life, get our attention and get our time and get our energy right?
Right now we're gonna talk about feedback and you say, I wrote on the board in big, bold letters behind me and, you know, this came about from a conversation yesterday. The Kendall. Now we're having. And I realized that feedback is very, very important. And we all know that whether it's it at work or whether it's, you know, with a spouse or with kids or with your training or with any of that stuff, we have to have feedback to grow.
The quote that I found just looking this morning is it says it takes humility to seek feedback. It takes wisdom to, understand it to analyze it and appropriately act on it. That's a pretty powerful statement. You gotta be humble in order to receive the feedback that someone's gonna have. You know, sometimes it's constructive criticism. Sometimes it's just as a column, haters, just people saying stuff, just trash talk. But at the end of the day, it's very important to have that feedback because that's how we grow. That's how we develop. Is knowing was this good or bad? Did this get executed properly? You know, Was everything in line the way that should be?
So how does a goal give us control? Well I never thought you’d ask. To start….Let’s break down just how to set and execute the goal.
3 types of goals that you MUST set to be successful.
Outcome goals, performance goals and process goals.
Accomplishment of goals gives us control, confidence and more reason to grow!
