I worked through this devotion series that spoke about the tension between working hard and trusting God for the results. I want to share what I took from it because maybe you are struggling with this as well.
On the one hand, God wants us to work hard and on the other hand trust Him fully for results. As a Christian, I need to accept this tension between hard work and trusting God for the results to find rest. Joshua 6 is a great case study that explains this acceptance of the tension. Maybe you know the story. God promises to give Jericho to Joshua, but instead of giving Joshua superhuman powers, God asked Joshua to work. They (the Israelites) had to march around Jericho once each day for six days and on the seventh day 7 times, screaming and blowing on the trumpets on the 7th lap. In doing Joshua and the Israelites had to trust God for the victory.
I learned that I should not try and solve this tension between working hard and trusting God for the results, I need to accept it. These ideas are not in conflict with each other, they are meant to work together.
This realization has giving me the renewed assurance that God is in control, He is asking me to work hard where He placed me and I need to trust Him for the results.
As a creator and entrepreneur, if you have struggled with this tension, I want to encourage you to work hard at your craft, get the skills you need, and trust God for the results.
