On Easter Sunday, we spend some time looking at the disciple who earned the nickname Doubting Thomas, and we see that we are very much the same. That we have doubts, and specifically we doubt the resurrection. Rob shows us that we need the resurrection, that the resurrection changes us, and that Jesus knows our doubts.

As we close out our sermon series, we look at Exodus 34, which doesn’t give us a new covenant between God and the Israelites but instead gives us the covenant reaffirmed. God does not abandon His people when they sin; He gives more of Himself.

Though the episode of the Israelites and the golden calf may seem very unlike anything we might do today, the passage actually says much about ourselves as people who are prone to gravitate toward idols and away from the one true God. Though we are not faithful, God in his rich mercy and love is, and He shows his faithfulness in providing a redeemer - Christ Jesus, His Son.

Our sermon series takes us to Exodus 24 where we see that God binds his people to Himself by His blood. He reminds us here that this relationship is cemented not by our goodness but by His grace.

John’s Gospel says that Jesus is full of grace and truth, and this is especially so in His interaction with the woman at the well. In this second half of our look at the 10 Commandments, Rob asks why we should keep the commandments. God’s Word provides the answer: Not so that He will love, approve, and accept us - these things precede the commandments. He gives us the commandments because he loves us; we should keep them so we can know what it means to live redeemed, so we can get to know Him, and we so can learn about ourselves.

As we begin to look at the 10 Commandments, we see that God’s commandments are rooted in our relationship with Him and that this relationship precedes the commandments. Enjoy this message from the beginning of Exodus 20.

In 2 Samuel 9 we see how King David dignifies, welcomes, and adopts Mephibosheth, the crippled and largely unknown son of David’s late friend Jonathan. Rev. Mark McDowell helps us to see from the Scripture how we are like Mephibosheth but because of the love of God in Christ Jesus we, too, are dignified, welcomed, and adopted as sons and daughters of God.
