Meryl Leventon, Race Director of Rock' n' Roll San Diego, joins the show's Host, (me) Run Coach Alli.
In this episode, we learn about what goes into making the event happen, the logistics for mapping out the course, and finding local schools to help celebrate and cheer on all athletes. Meryl and her team create fun incentives to make the event a friendly competition amongst different spectators, one of which includes fun prize money. Who doesn't love that! Enjoy our discussion + MORE covered in this week's episode you won't want to miss! I enjoyed my chat with Meryl - she is AWESOME!
San Diego has a special place in my heart since it's the race where I took 14 minutes off of my Los Angeles Marathon PR in 2016 and Qualified for the 2017 Boston Marathon with a finish time of 3 hours and 21 minutes while running it for the first time. As I came back from an injury and took as I took on coaching as my full-time profession, I continued to enjoy evolving with the sport of distance running. Last October, I snagged a new 19-minute PR competing during the pandemic in October, running the Rock 'n' Roll San Diego Marathon, finishing with an official time of 3 hours, 02 minutes, and 48 seconds. I'm training to run a faster marathon, and I'm honored to say I will be returning for the 25th anniversary Rock 'n' Roll San Diego Marathon in June 2023. I look forward to partnering with Rock 'n' Roll San Diego next June and sharing with you some things that make this race my number #1 favorite marathon during my discussion with half marathoner and amazing Race Director, Meryl Leventon! The pictures say it all. The energy is electric; the crowds are contagious, and the weather is to die for - I cannot rave about it enough! Please don't take my word for it. Enjoy my discussion with Meryl about the course and the beautiful hills and energy that make this race so special! I look forward to partnering with the organization for future initiatives. The best has yet to come!
If you're thinking of a marathon to sign up for in June and want a fantastic experience or a new PR, the Rock ‘n’ Roll San Diego Half Marathon or Marathon is a MUST!
