Sermon #1506 – “YOUR PAST IS NOT THE PROPHET OF YOUR FUTURE”
Pastor Jason Sharp | December 7, 2025 | Calvary OKC
In this message, Pastor Jason Sharp declares a powerful truth: your past does not have the authority to predict your future — only God does. Using Paul’s conversion testimony in Acts 26 and the events surrounding Acts 28, Pastor reveals that God specializes in restoring wasted years, redeeming broken stories, and awakening spiritual purpose.
Your failures are not final. Your history is not your destiny. God writes better endings than what your past implies.
God Restores Wasted Years
Like Paul, many believers carry regret from seasons of rebellion, pain, confusion, or spiritual dormancy. But Pastor taught that God wastes nothing — not even the years we thought were ruined. God restored Paul fully and immediately gave him purpose, mission, and calling. Redemption is God’s specialty.
Paul's Testimony is Our Template
Paul’s past was violent, destructive, and shameful — yet God transformed him into an apostolic leader. Pastor emphasized:
Paul became an example of how God can reclaim the most unlikely people for His glory. (Reference: Acts 26 — )
Adversity Prepares Your For Destiny
Paul was shipwrecked, bitten by a viper, falsely accused, and imprisoned — yet none of it stopped the purpose of God. Pastor taught that adversity keeps us humble, dependent, and spiritually awake. Instead of destroying Paul, adversity shaped him. (Reference: Acts 28 — )
Awakening Spiritual Passion
Pastor reminded us that when God restores us, He also reawakens spiritual hunger. Paul was on fire for God precisely because he had experienced grace deeply. Your past pain becomes fuel for future passion.
Your past is not prophetic. Your story is not over. The God who restored Paul will restore you. Step into your future — it’s waiting for you.
