CVCYouth Associate Pastor Joe Valenti concludes "Risk Takers," our first teaching series of 2017 as he looks at the life of Joshua in Joshua 1:1-9. Joe will show us that when we listen to God's instructions, confident in his promises, he empowers us with his Spirit so that his promises and purposes are accomplished.

Lead Pastor Chad Allen takes us to within one week of the conclusion of "Risk Takers," our 2017 teaching series on the risk takers in the Bible. Pastor Chad continues with a look at Moses from Hebrews 11:23-28. Moses was a man who was imperfect but resilient. He took the risk of being faithful to the Lord in the face of internal doubts and external adversity. His endurance and resilience were empowered and fueled by the redemptive nature of God. We see in the life of Moses a resilient risk taker for the cause of God who played a major part in pointing to God's redemption of mankind through Christ. Moses is an example of being a risk taker, being resilient and being used by God in His plan of redemption.

Lead Pastor Chad Allen brings us into the sixth week of the "Risk Takers" series as he looks at Moses' mother's risk-taking in Exodus 1:22-2:10. Taking a risk for the Lord involves releasing our plans and wants and embracing God's plans and wants. We see that in the story of Jochebed the mother of Moses. As the threat of death loomed over her as a Hebrew mom with a son due to the Pharaoh's edict to kill all Hebrew boys, she came to the place where she had to release Moses onto the Nile River and trust in the Lord's providence and plan. What plans or desires or wants do we need to release to embrace God's plans and wants for our lives? Risking means releasing.

Founding Pastor Rick Duncan guides us into the fifth week of "Risk Takers," the first teaching series of 2017. Pastor Rick will be looking at Hebrews 11:11, as he shows that most of us would never put Sarah into the "Faith Hall of Fame." She was deceitful and faithless and unkind, but here she is in Hebrews 11 with Noah and Abraham and Moses and David and Samuel! By faith Sarah received power to conceive even after she was passed child-bearing age. She gave birth to the Jewish nation, which means that, ultimately, from her came Jesus, the Savior of all who believe. It pleases God to use imperfect people to pull off His perfect plan. If He did it with Sarah, a woman who was wrong and mean and doubting and old, then He can do it with you.

Lead Pastor Chad Allen returns to show us from Genesis 11:27-12:7 that we are to "Move" in the fourth week of the "Risk Takers" series. Pastor Chad will show us that we are to go where God leads us even when the pathway isn't clear. Abraham is one of our great models of trusting God and following Him despite the lack of clarity of the outcome. Abraham knew that God was taking him to "a land I will show you." He knew that God promised him many descendants despite his and Sarah's infertility. And although peppered with moments of flawed human reasoning, Abraham took the risk of trusting God and it caused him to move forward in faith. If we take the risk of trusting God it too will cause us to move forward in faith. As followers of Christ we take the risk to move the direction Lord shows us even if the pathway isn't clear.

CVC Young Adults Pastor Josh Stone takes us into the third week of the "Risk Takers" series. Pastor Josh will be looking with us at Genesis, chapters 6 through 9 as he shows us that the risk God requires of us is simple obedience. Often people hear stories of the heroes of the faith and want to make an impact like them. They want to take great risks and receive great rewards from God. But great opportunity comes from the daily risk-taking of simple obedience. God does not need us, but he invites us to be part of his work in the world. We do this by the risky decision to live lives of obedience. Sometimes an obedient person is called to extraordinary things. But most of the time, God works His will through everyday people taking the risk to be obedient to God.

Lead Pastor Chad Allen takes us into the second week of the "Risk Takers" series as he looks at the life of Job in Job 13:15a and other select verses. It's easy to trust God when all is well and when we are "#blessed". But is our faith in Christ authentic enough and strong enough to trust Him when things do not go our way? Job is an incredible example of taking the risk to trust God in the face of adversity and pain. Are you willing to take a risk in trusting God in the midst of adversity and pain? If so you will see God show up and reward your trust.

Lead Pastor Chad Allen takes us into the second week of "Risk Takers," the series on the risk takers of the faith. Pastor Chad will look with us at Luke 5:1-11 as he shows us how we as a church can unleash our capacity. God wants us to live beyond our comfort zone, to unleash the potential of His design in us, to live to the capacity He has built us for. Living beyond our comfort zone means risk. Where there is faith there is risk, where there is risk there is faith. We see this principle when Jesus calls Peter to let down his fishing nets. In that moment Peter went from resistance to risk and paid off as the nets, boats, and God's calling and him and his disciples were filled to capacity. What will it look like if each person, family, LifeHouse, LifeGroup, and our church lived and served to their capacity?

Pastor of Technical Arts Jeff Ziolkowski welcomes us into 2017 by kicking off our new series, "Risk Takers" and diving into Hebrews 11. It reminds us that God's ultimate call isn't a call to comfort, but rather a life of risk-taking for His purposes. How will these heros of the faith encourage and inspire you to live a life full of risks for God this year?

CVCYouth Intern Michael Patterson brings us the "Christmas Story" on Christmas Day. Michael wraps up our "God With Us" series on the incarnation with a look at Luke 2:8-20. Michael will show us that we can share the good news of great joy (our Savior) so that people can wonder at just how amazing He is.
