The Preacher compares and contrasts wisdom and folly and encourages us to use practical wisdom under the Sun when relating to the power structures of a corrupt, upside down world.

The Preacher urges us to have perspective on life in light of our coming death and the uncertainty of life. He urges us to enjoy life's good gifts from God NOW. The gospel is also the deepest answer to the question as to whether God is for us or against us. In the gospel we can be assured of hope now and forever in Jesus Christ.

Practical Wisdom and the Fear of the Lord

We learn wisdom in through life's adversity

Seeking to find our lives through money, wealth and the acquisition of things will leave us empty, spiritually bankrupt and without peace

We must come before God in worship in a posture of reverence and awe. Jesus leads us to come to him both as our loving Father and a holy and hallowed King. We reject the fool's religion of filling life with external observances without heart devotion. We seek to live life Coram Deo, before the face of our sovereign king, holy judge and loving father.

Will we wander this life in loneliness and isolation or will we walk together in the mission of God?

Living and working faithfully with hope in a cut throat world of injustice and oppression

God is Sovereign over all things in time and history. We either deny, despair or trust God in light of this truth. We can rejoice and do good in our time under the sun only when we live in relationship with and trusting the God who made us.
