In this episode, we once again come back to the conversation we had last week about circumcision with some clarification from those who hold other positions. Those in the Torah movement that don’t believe the Torah commands adult male circumcision are not saying it is a bad thing, but rather, that there is simply no command in Torah for adult males to be circumcised. We discuss this and give our take on it.

We look at passage such as the Passover narrative and discuss if this is in fact a command for adults to be circumcised. Also, what about Yeshua’s statement that He will not eat the Passover again until He does so in the Kingdom. Will Yeshua require circumcision to partake with Him since it is a command to do so in the Torah?

In this episode, we look at several passages from the book of Galatians that the Church has commonly used to say the laws of Moses are no longer required to be kept by believers. Specifically, we look at Gal. 4:21-26 and 5:3. What does it mean that a person who is circumcised is obligated to keep the whole law? And also, why does Paul equate Hagar with the covenant of Sinai? Doesn’t this prove that the law is a bad thing?

Throughout our conversation, we continue to point these passages back to the Gospel message that Paul proclaims in Galatians 3:8 and the curse that he talks about in 3:10. These references are central to Paul’s point in the rest of the book.

In this episode, we have several discussions, one that looks at places where the Scriptures talk about what happened when Yeshua died on the cross and if the Father’s wrath was poured out on the Son, then we turn to a discussion about the difference between Acts 15:1 and 15:5. We then return to our conversation about the wrath of God and what this “wrath” actually would look like in relationship wo the cross.

Another discussion we have looks at the difference between the Masoretic text and the Greek LXX. What do we do with the difference we find in the quoted scripture of the New Testament where the Greek translation of the Bible is quoted? In this episode, we start by looking at a common theological position within Christianity that believes a person was justified through the sacrificial system before Christ came. According to this position, a person was justified by the blood of the sacrifices, something that had to be done continually, but Christ came to make it so that people no longer had to offer sacrifices. Now we are justified through faith in Yeshua the Messiah.

It is our position that the sacrificial system did not deal with justification of the soul in the spiritual realm, but that it dealt with physical defilement of sin in this world and the physical space of the temple. According to our belief, salvation has always been through faith in Yeshua, both before and after He came to earth. Passages focused on in this episode are Hebrews 10:4 and Lev. 17:11.

In this episode, we look at the Greek word “Koinas” and how its used in the New Testament. This word has several different meanings and is often times translated “common” but this word can mean some other things as well. Koinas is used by Jewish groups to mean people who are not part of the “in crowd” or are outside the groups graces for various reasons. Such a meaning can be seen in places like Mark 7 and Acts 10 when the word “common” is meant as someone who is on the outside of the mainstream group.
