In honor of ½ of this show (co-host, Dorian) turning 28 today, we are covering ‘The 27 Club’!!!
The number 27 has become an infamous, fickle little number (SPECIFICALLY) in rock n’ roll after BIG musicians: Brian Jones, Jim Morrison, Jimi Hendrix, AND Janis Joplin all died at the age of 27, back-to-back in a matter of just 3 years between 1969 and 1971.
So obviously people took notice of this odd coincidence, and the term ‘27 club’ started getting thrown around a bit. But it wasn’t until 1994 when Kurt Cobain passed away at the age of 27, where all shit hit the fan and the term ‘27 Club’ stuck & became a huge phantom phenomenon.
We will light-snorkel-dive into a handful of the artists who made a significant mark in our world through their talents, but unfortunately also made way for a permanent ’27 Club’ residency.
