Good morning, Mets fans!

I’m John from ‘Til Mets Do Us Part, and it’s time for the ‘Til Mets Morning Minute, where we talk as quickly as possible about the biggest stories from the New York Mets.

The Minnesota Twins are a bad baseball team. They play sloppy, they don’t have as many quality players as the Mets do throughout the roster, and they’re dealing with a lot of injuries. Yet, somehow the Mets managed to lose a series to them this week, including the first back-to-back losses the Mets have suffered all season.

Tuesday night, the Mets started strong on both sides of the ball, but faded in the middle innings and could never rebound — whatever, tip your cap, sometimes bad teams beat better ones. Wednesday afternoon, on the other hand, was one of the sloppiest games the Mets have played this season. Clearly a case of playing down to the competition.

For most of the game, they lacked timely hitting, they swung at bad pitches, they showed some bad fundamentals, had some undisciplined at-bats, got an ill-advised send from a base coach and challenged a play they shouldn’t have — which came back to bite them later. The 8th inning rally to get the game tied was exciting for a moment, but ultimately, not scoring in the 10th was the final straw.

It’s frustrating to lose a series like this, but baseball is an every day game, and players and fans alike gotta try and wash it way.
