Prepare yourself for a very quiet and almost whispered reflection on the dead, the darkness, and the loveliness of candles. Memories of my Cavan Childhood, and the stalls outside the Cathedral during the November mission. This is where my theatre began and it is the source of all my imaginative journeys in different religions. So I wanted to do something intimate for the end of the month. To bid farewell to this time of darkness and remembrance of the dead. And the only wisdom I have is the wisdom of a theatre practitioner. As the director would say - do something.

Well here's a little memory of other times. Long before covid when we could do what we liked. But then of course we couldn't do everything we liked because there were other ways we were restricted. And inhibited.

Someone who listens to the podcast told me about the tailors half hour. They posted it on the sight. It's the time the tailors used to take their tea break; the time of the day when it was too dark to sew but too early to switch the light on. it inspired me to share this little buddhist ramble about how little I know.  And I hope you find in yourself all that you don't know, because what we don't know is a condition of blissful bewilderment. And so the second great lesson in Buddhism is - light a candle. Yes. Actually light a candle. We're getting there. It's November.

I did this extra podcast yesterday evening. I had the other podcasts finished and I just felt I had more to share. So on I went in a rambling song  about lots of unrelated things, which I hope brightens up your heart in this winter day because sometimes I feel podcasting is not about the sharing of something important, but more about the intimacy of sharing. It's just there. And I climbed it one time. and that's all there is to say. But then I end up relating to the mountain like it was a person. Because all the people come and go. 

But the mountain remains. I love it now. Maybe I need to go there again next year. One more time to visit it. To feel it holding me. Embracing me.

Well I started this reflection where yesterday's talk about the Monkey and the Banana ended. And then I drifted into a few thoughts about detachment. AT this time if year I like to withdraw. I go into my room and close the door. sometimes it's a real room and sometimes it's the room in my heart. I'm not closing off the world. But I'm detaching from the world for a while. I'm trying to get to the centre of my life rather than orbiting around it. Ground Zero in the beautiful cataclysm of awakening. it's not difficult. just detach yourself from everything. And have a lovely day. By the way the picture is not me. it's Milarepa. Great storyteller he was!

In November I miss my friends. I feel them around me like messengers from another realm. They support me, hold me, cherish me. it's only my imagination but it's a way of getting through the winter, with metaphors. So I'm sharing it with you. A very short meditation.

Just a few minutes ago Mr Biden became president elect, of USA. So I feel it's an auspicious moment to post this audio. Me in the carpark of Supervalu, blathering on about Buddhist ideas.
