The Joe Mooney Summer School is a wonderful week long session of many hundreds of musicians and it's hard to describe what fun it is. Irish music to me always seems like a form of a meditation; the tunes work like chants on the mind, bringing the musicians into a state of extraordinary equilibrium. Anyway, this is just a fun reflection on that amazing thing known as the Session. Always on the third week in July. Will it happen this year? Who can tell. if it does, it'll be different.

I was remembering the night this woman was the main news item across the world. Because she was up for execution in Texas the following morning. it happened inn1998; she was the first woman execution by the state of Texas since 1863. She was a celebrity for a few hours; and then she was forgotten. But not entirely.

I'm just having fun sometimes, reflecting on memories of people. Here there's two men, each one lonely in different ways and there's a bit about fairies, and at the end, I tiny reflection on myth. April 23, 2020 Mullingar; remembering the courthouse, the cinema, and boys with no maps; the hoodies.
Continuing a few reflections on Mullingar, when I first went there in 2006, here's a few words about life there. Just opposite the Mullingar Arts Centre is the Courthouse. I used to think there was an ironic contrast between the two; on the one hand, the Arts Centre was a theatre of music and joy. and across the road the Circuit Court provided a very different type of theatre for different audiences.
