Sparrow and Wirt-Rivette Group’s New Woodlands of DeWitt Senior Living Community.

Jeffrey Mosher was on the road Wednesday afternoon, Oct. 2, to The Woodlands of DeWitt, in DeWitt, MI. He caught up with officials from Sparrow, and Wirt-Rivette, who had been joined by the city Mayor of DeWitt, along with U.S. Rep. John Moolenaar, R-Midland.

In these segments are interviews followed by the welcome remarks and facility tour of The Woodlands of DeWitt, a new senior living community under construction through a partnership between Sparrow and The Wirt-Rivette Group.

The community will feature 28 independent living villas, each with an attached one-car garage and available in one-or-two bedroom options. There will also be 35 assisted living and memory care apartments, allowing residents a variety of living options suited to different life stages.

Chris Holman catches up with Margaret Trimer, Vice President of Strategic Partnerships at Delta Dental of Michigan, Okemos, MI.

She discusses her philosophy and action of getting business growth through economic development and placemaking. Her vision on this point, has led to Delta Dental’s involvement in such efforts. In fact Delta Dental has played a big role in connection to the recently opened Rotary Park in Lansing, MI.

Through Margaret's Detroit connections, she assisted MBN in getting Dennis Archer Jr. as a presenter recently for the MBN Speakers Series. She discusses lessons learned from Dennis and how Lansing can apply those to keep moving forward.

Edythe Copeland, CEO, CAMW!, Joins Chris Holman in studio to talk about Michigan College Month.

Michigan College Month is a part of the American College Application Campaign (ACAC) and is organized by the Michigan College Access Network (MCAN). MCAN aims to increase college readiness, participation and completion in Michigan, particularly among lowincome students, first-generation college-going students and students of color. Michigan College Month also helps emphasize the relationship between applying to and paying for college, and it helps break down some of the most complex and commonly cited barriers to attending college.

High schools across the state can be host sites for Michigan College Month. These host sites set a goal to have 100% of their seniors complete a college application, provide dedicated space, time and support for students to complete college applications during the school day in the school building, engage underclassmen in thinking about the steps to college before their senior year and help students begin their FAFSA.

Once again, table tennis helped illustrate the important role Detroit has played in Chinese-American relations.

State Rep. Cynthia Johnson and Chinese Consul General Zhao Jian had a friendly game earlier this month at the Coleman A. Young Municipal Center during an event to celebrate the 40th anniversary of diplomatic ties between the U.S. and China.

It was 47 years ago when a series of table tennis exhibitions were held in Detroit, Ann Arbor and other cities. Known as “ping-pong diplomacy” it showcased world-class table tennis players from the United States and the People's Republic of China.
