On the third and final day of the 2019 Michigan Works! Association's Annual Conference, awards were presented to nearly two dozen from across Michigan who are making a difference in the state's workforce.

EMPLOYER OF THE YEAR
Highlights a private sector employer that, in partnership with a Michigan Works! Agency, goes beyond the call of duty, continuously contributes to local job-placement / promotes education to maintain a skilled workforce. Emphasis may be on hiring individuals with disabilities or any other significant barrier(s) to employment.

VOLUNTEER OF THE YEAR
Pays tribute to an individual from the private sector who is dedicated to the growth and promotion of Michigan Works!.
2019 WINNER: CHRIS HOLMAN, MICHIGAN BUSINESS NETWORK
LEGISLATOR OF THE YEAR AWARD
Recognizes a state lawmaker who has shown by deed, actions and accomplishment the steadfast advocacy of Michigan Works! and/or a Michigan Works! Agency (i.e., support of program funding, sponsored new legislation, excelled in grassroots advocacy, demonstrated leadership in advancing public policy goals, etc).

COLLABORATOR OF THE YEAR AWARD
This award celebrates an individual who demonstrates cooperation, collaboration and open communication. The award exemplifies effective relationship building across different groups or departments to define and solve problems.

And then the SHINING STAR AWARDS
Celebrates Michigan Works! Agency frontline staff who, through dedication and outstanding contributions to workforce development, personifies the Michigan Works! mission. The award opened in 2009 with recipients from each Michigan Works! Agency, as 16 from across Michigan are recognized for their efforts.
