  • Students United | Dewitt Presentation of "Rare Birds" thru Feb. 17th Part 1
Jason LaFay of DeWitt High School and Michigan Creativity Group, interviews Jeff Croley's student actors participating in ...
The DeWitt High School Theater Department invites you to a very special winter show Feb. 14th, 15th, and 16th at 7:00 p.m. and on Feb. 17th at 2:00 p.m.. The show, Rare Birds, is an "issue" piece of art that takes a close, yet not so simple look at the common struggles and cruelty people have to endure as they search for acceptance, happiness, and love.
The play is an intense drama about conflicts, journeys, and the many pressing issues facing teens today. The emotions are plentiful and the dialogue truthful. Rare Birds sheds a harsh light on the impact of cyber-bullying in a world where things can quickly get out of control. The story shows how complexity and courage have a funny way of connecting people all the while forcing them to confront their inner lives.
The longing for self-fulfillment, self-expression, and self-confidence lead six characters on an unpredictable journey of reflection and perseverance that is captivating from the start.
Simply put, Rare Birds is a story that needs to be told. It is a powerful play full of timely messages that remind us all that words and actions cut deep and leave scars. However, this compelling play also speaks loudly to the fact that hearts have the amazing power to heal the deepest wounds, even on the darkest of days.
Please note: This show is general admission. Tickets will be available 30 minutes prior to the show. Also, a short post show discussion with the cast and crew will follow the production for those interested.
