Nate Rozeveld is joined by Matt Raysin for this week's episode of Michigan Wild. Matt is the co-host of Generations to Hunt podcast, and joined this week to talk about his turkey hunting and chasing rabbits with his beagles.
Nate and Matt start the podcast off with Matt's hunting journey. Matt didn't come from a hunting family so he shares the struggle with self teaching and overcoming some heart aches. As time went on Matt's passion for the outdoors grew and so did his skills of becoming a better hunter.
Nate and Matt have both found success in the turkey woods this spring so they both dive into their hunts, along with the hunt Nate had with his cousin. After their recap of each hunt the conversion transitions into the passion they have chasing rabbits with their beagles. Nate and Matt each have 2 beagles which are both of their first beagles they have raised and hunted with. They dive into their training methods and equipment they use and their overall enjoyment it brings them.
Overall a great episode with 2 like minded people and Nate looks forward to future hunts with Matt.
Thanks Matt for joining Michigan Wild!

Nate Rozeveld and Rod Rozeveld sit down and discuss Nate's hunt for Wild hogs in Oklahoma on this week's episode of Michigan Wild. Starting the episode off Nate and Rod actually talk about turkey hunting and why it wasn't a priority to hunt Turkeys or a desirable game to pursue. Rod growing up had first hand experience with the negative impact the wild turkey had on the farmers crop and livestock. So to him and local farmers they were a nuisance and not necessary. As time has gone on the population got more in check and seemed to alleviate the stress they put on farmers' fields and danger to their livestock.
Farms and Ranches face similar detrimental issues if they happen to be in an area that has an abundance of wild hogs. Which is exactly where Nate found himself in Oklahoma. He was invited down there by John Hudspeth from the Oklahoma Outdoors Podcast and enjoyed his time partaking in killing some hogs and bringing some meat back home.
Some of the topics discussed around the hunting trip were...
-What is the terrain like in Oklahoma
-The challenges the locals face due to the wild hogs
-Methods used for hog population control
-Recap of each successful hunt
Finishing up the episode Nate and Rod hop into some current events focused around their spring food plot ideas. They have some new equipment they are excited to try along with their first planting of Vitalize seeds Nitroboost.

Jake Hofer joined Nate Rozeveld on Michigan Wild this week. Jake is co-owner of Exodus Outdoor Gear. Exodus is a company that started producing trailcams but has extended into the outdoor space with tailored arrows and other accessories. Jake is also the host of The Land Podcast, a podcast about the pursuit and acquisition of property for recreation and or investment purposes.
Born and raised in Illinois Jake is no stranger to hunting big bucks, however this past fall he had the opportunity to hunt in Iowa. Drawing the coveted archery tag in Iowa for Jake allowed him the ability to schedule time away and focus on hunting down a mature buck with his bow. Fortunately for Jake he not only filled his Iowa tag, he also shot his 1st buck on his own property in Illinois.
Jake is always striving to learn and become the best hunter, real estate agent, and habitat manager he can be. So make sure to tune into all the content he produces along with everything from Exodus Outdoor Gear.

Nate Rozeveld and Nick Heikkila have a great conversation on this episode of Michigan Wild. Nick has been torn up with being outside and hunting since he was a little kid, much like Nate was. Even with their age difference the two guys related to quite a few similarities with their upbringing and style of hunting.
Nick is right in the middle of setting a bunch of different goals going into this upcoming season.
Nate love's the mentality and breaks down most of Nick's goals which include...
-Getting more permission properties in an urban setting
-Getting better with a camera
-Learning a new property
-Targeting mature bucks from historical data
-Learning how to effectively use cell cams
-Starting a podcast

Michigan Wild's returning guest Shane Loney hoped on the podcast this week. Shane has done some excellent episodes on the podcast. He did a season update with Nate (Last 7 Days Wk3) and told a story of his 2022 archery buck (Killing an Early Season Buck) last fall. Well Shane ended up tagging the buck he was after. It took until the end of November but after getting some trail cam pics and making a strategic move he capitalized.
Other topics discussed thru the episode are...
- Finding pockets of Mature Bucks
- Off season prep leads to success in the fall
- Hunting property that isn't yours
- Taking advantage of small windows of buck movement
- Tournament Walleye Fishing and its challenges
- Figure out your process and stick to it
Congrats on another fantastic buck Shane!

Matt Tagget with Rek Broadheads joined Nate on this episode of Michigan Wild. Matt and his Father launched Rek 4 years ago and they are based out of Frankenmuth Michigan. Rek is 100 percent USA made and manufactured and now offers 4 broadheads. (HXP, XP, FXD, FX4)
Nate and Matt talk about the origin of Rek and the why behind starting a broadhead company. Matt and his Father ultimately felt like there was a need in the space and wanted to offer hunters a more personal experience. That experience comes with awesome customer service and allowing customers to have a voice. Ultimately that approach is what led to the HXP for this fall.
Matt and his team had a great fall testing the new HXP and he looks forward to getting them out to customers. Make sure to check out www.rekbroadheads.com to find a dealer closest to you.

Robert McIntyre joins Michigan Wild this week. Robert and Nate have a great conversation talking about all things whitetails. Robert has found himself being a late season killer the last few seasons. He actually made it a goal for the 2022 season to kill a buck in the snow with his bow in Michigan. A goal he achieved and then followed up with a buck in late January this past season in Ohio.
Some other points the guys touch on through the episode are...
- Importance of scouting with a game plan
- Art of gaining permission
- Challenge of hunting public land
- Finding sheds
- Fine tuning setups and finding the right sign
- Journaling data
Thanks for the awesome episode Robert!

Brian Terry and Nate Rozeveld sit down and figure out what a Zinger is on this week's episode of MIchigan Wild. A Zinger happens to be Nate's new favorite way to fletch arrows and Brian happens to be an owner of the company so the guys were able to dive into them.
Some of the questions Nate had were...
- What is a Zinger?
- Why do they work?
- Do they stay on?
- Lifetime warranty?!
- Can be used with fixed/mechanical broadheads?
- Use them with a tradbow?
Overall Brian did an excellent job breaking down Zingers and what makes them a great alternative to traditional vanes. If anyone wants to learn more about Zingers reach out to Nate on social media or check out Zinger yourself.
