A basic school teacher, Helena Serwaa is in the grips of the police for allegedly dipping the hand of a 9-year-old girl in hot water for stealing her GH¢2. Both hands of the victim, Stephanie Nketiah Forkuo have been severely burnt by her guardian for the alleged petty theft. The unfortunate incident occurred at Goaso in the Ahafo region.

The Mobile Money Agents Association of Ghana has stated that there has been unprecedented panic withdrawals at the mobile money vending stations after five days of implementing the e-levy. Spokesperson of the Association, Charles Kwesi Addo, in an interaction with JoyNews said its members are overwhelmed by the numbers.

Attorney-General, Godfred Yeboah Dame has said the dismissal of the interlocutory injunction on the e-levy filed by the three Minority Members of Parliament has affirmed his argument that the writ was factually uncertain. According to him, the arguments from the applicants were a bundle of conjecture which could not demonstrate any irregularity in the passage of the e-levy and warrant a grant of their plea. He took a jab at the Minority for going to court without evidence.

This is due to some technical hitches experienced on the day by some consumers on the various networks.

The Ghana Revenue Authority has announced its decision to commence the operationalization of the E-levy from May 1 in a modified-phased approach. This follows the results of an assessment carried out by the GRA to test the general readiness of some charging entities to integrate with the E-Levy management system.

Some New Patriotic Party (NPP) delegates in Okaikwei South have vowed to block the conduct of the constituency executive elections if names of qualified delegates are not included in the register. They claim over 413 names have been deleted from the register, adding that people from other constituencies have rather been included in the album to partake in the exercise. They also alleged that some members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) have been added to the register to increase the fortunes of some aspirants.

All is not going right in Ghana’s largest constituency, Dome-Kwabenya as aspirants are raising concerns about the legitimacy of the voter’s register of NPP amidst the ongoing constituency executives election. Supporters of incumbent MP, Sarah Adwoa Safo are alleging that names of their supporters from polling to zonal coordinators have been expunged from the register. The aggrieved party members have headed to two separate courts to injunct the elections.
