The Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) has revealed it will engage the Finance Ministry to resolve key anomalies in the Electronic Transactions Levy (E-levy) law, which could significantly impact some subscribers when the tax is implemented. A Principal Revenue Officer and Head of the Project Management Unit for GRA, Isaac Kobina Amoako, admitted that salaries paid through mobile money will attract E-levy, even though the salary would have already been taxed.

Ghana is part of 58 countries in the world that have abstained from voting against Russia’s suspension from the UN Human Rights Council. The decision which was adopted by the Council on Thursday, April 7, 2022, had 93 countries voting in favor while 24 countries voted against the suspension. The resolution received a two-thirds majority of those voting, excluding countries that abstained from voting.

The Bank of Ghana has once again warned the public (companies, institutions and individuals) to desist from unauthorized dealings in foreign currency.

This is in accordance with the Foreign Exchange Act, 2006 (Act 723). According to a statement from the Central Bank, companies, institutions and individuals are prohibited from engaging in foreign exchange business without a license issued by Bank of Ghana or pricing, advertising, receipting or making payments for goods and services in foreign currency in Ghana, without written authorization from Bank of Ghana.

Head of the Central Analysis and Forecasting Office at the Ghana Meteorological Agency, Felicity Ahafianyo, has announced that thunderstorms and lightning are expected across the country. She said that the expected thunderstorm will likely have a thunderous clap, reduced visibility, and damaging wind, affecting weak structures and dead branches on trees.
