This week, we examine the tragic events that unfolded at the Astroworld event in Houston, and questions over the safety concerns that existed prior to the mass casualty event.
This week, as the mystery of California's missing governor appears to have been solved, controversy erupts overseas as a former president appeared to have a misunderstanding of what country he was currently visiting. Meanwhile, fireworks erupted on Wednesday during the trial of Kyle Rittenhouse as the prosecutor in the case was reprimanded by the judge overseeing the trial, over what he called a "grave constitutional violation." Then later in the program, we analyze the tragedy that ensued in Houston over the weekend at the ill-planned Astroworld event held by rapper Travis Scott… all this and more on this edition of Middle Theory.

This week, we look at struggles among Democrats to find compromise in advance of a widely anticipated vote on infrastructure and safety net bills.
As we begin our analysis of news this week, alarm bells were ringing following the diagnosis of White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki with COVID 19, who dropped off of a planned international trip with President Biden due to what was described as a family emergency. Also, actor Alec Baldwin finally spoke with the press about the recent tragic incident on the set of the film Rust involving a prop weapon, and all eyes are on the Supreme Court as it prepares to hear cases involving two of the most contentious issues in America today: abortion and gun rights.
Then later in the program, we examine the upheaval among Democrats in recent days, as they work their way toward finding approval for President Biden's proposed infrastructure and safety net bills this week. While progressives have called for support of the bill, many Senators warn that they may break ranks with their fellow members of Congress if key climate language ends up being omitted... but what does all of this say about the state of the Democratic Party as the midterm elections arrive, and more importantly, how does it reflect what recent polls are showing about President Biden's current numbers?

This week, we look at the controversy surrounding "The Facebook Papers," what they reveal about the company's policies, and how they are impacting society.
This week, Joe Biden's approval ratings have dropped to the lowest they have been since he took office... which is still higher than another recent president's approval ratings at this stage in his presidency. We also touch on the developing story of remains recovered that the FBI says belong to Brian Laundrie, whose girlfriend was found dead in Wyoming weeks ago.
Then we shift our attention to the newly released trove of documents dubbed "The Facebook Papers," which provide a revealing look at how the tech giant's policies and practices may have influenced the siege on Capitol Hill in January, and helped foment unrest in society in various other areas throughout recent years. Lastly, we also examine recent allegations that the CIA considered assassinating Wikileaks founder Julian Assange, following the damaging release of the spy agency's "Vault 7" documents.

This week, we look at how vaccine mandates and other issues related to the coronavirus pandemic are fueling resignations and dissent among state employees, law enforcement, and other segments of the population.
This week, concern erupted around a recent Financial Times report indicating that China had been revealed to have tested a new hypersonic weapon capable of traveling 21,000 miles per hour... but were the reports true? We look at what the Chinese Foreign Ministry had to say, as well as what U.S. Intelligence Officials say about why America is falling behind in its own hypersonics development. We also touch on the recent passing of Colin Powell and his legacy, and other items in the news.
However, the main focus this week has to do with resignations and revolts occurring around the United States, as state employees in California show fewer percentages of vaccinated than the general population, police forces push back against vaccine mandates, and the private sector is going on strike against work conditions. In light of all this, it's no surprise that two professors are saying that we're already entering a financial depression on par with the slump seen in 2008... we wade into all of this, and more on this week's installment of Middle Theory.

In this episode, we examine the controversy over comedian Dave Chappelle, whose new Netflix special, "The Closer", has been criticized for its depiction of LGBTQ issues and the trans community.
This week, as the Biden White House warns that hard times await as we head into the holiday season, shortages are already on the rise as supply chain issues ensue. Meanwhile, in the aftermath of "The Great Facebook Blackout of 2021," many tech companies are warning of even greater cyber perils on the horizon... this, and the ongoing situation in Texas, where Governor Greg Abbot has taken measures to prevent vaccine mandates in his state.
However, at the heart of the discussion this week is the controversy over comedian Dave Chappelle, whose new Netflix special, "The Closer", has been criticized for its depiction of LGBTQ issues and, in particular, the trans community. Meanwhile, several supporters and fellow comedians have come to Chappelle's defense, who argue that there is both a deeper message behind the raunchy Netflix special, but also more concerning issues at stake that it addresses. We wade into the controversy and try to make sense of things on this week's edition of Middle Theory.
