Numerous times, I have woken up from a night of drinking and didn't know how I got to where I woke up, where I was when I woke up (initially), and/or was missing an article of clothing. This episode is a regalement of the times I can remember.
Is it bad that there's more than one time? Hmmm ...
A few tangents in this one, but I hope they balance out some of the more somber portions.
My wife asked the other day if we know anyone that might be getting married sometime soon.; we don't. A friend mentioned how friends of theirs were travelling to attend a wedding and two funerals. Another old friend reached out to me and mentioned how some people we knew back in the day are gone.
All this wedding and funeral talk got me thinking about how the context for coming together changes throughout our lives; from childhood, to young adulthood, to adulthood, and into your later years.
Center of attention, and not always in a good way. There's definitely room for growth.
It was a busy week and didn't have as much time to flesh out an outline for an episode, so this is just me talking to ya. (Trying to keep down the "ums!")
I read a few articles about how some younger generations struggle with soft skills. That got me thinking about the life experiences that helped shape me.
In a recent NPR piece I was listening to, Sheryl Crow said something along the lines of, "When you're young, you're only looking at the life that's ahead of you; but when you get older you look back and realize how quickly time has passed."
All of this is to say that, different life experiences shape folks into different people. I've had my share of experiences that definitely shaped me, in ways both good and bad. But even though I'm not old yet (does that mean i'm still young?), I'm trying to look forward and be a better person for the life that has to come my way. BRING IT ON!
Covering a lot of ground, from childhood to the present. Consider it groundwork to put future content into context.
First episode! Highly unlikely not the last, but only time will tell ...

Sharing my life experiences to both inform and (hopefully!) entertain others.
"Midlife" because 86 seems about right for when I'll eventually die.
"Mirth" because I think it's…
