Mollie Macarthy-Openshaw is an inspiration. After a conversation with a friend who was grieving getting older, Mollie realized she wanted to help women embrace life at any age. Her answer? Create Mood Swing Wines.
The journey of Mood Swing Wines has been about poking fun at menopause through delightfully tasting wines while providing a platform to inspire and encourage women to embrace this time in their lives. Think Covers Off Chardonnay, Memory Lapse Merlot, and Zin-o-Pause. I've had the Chardonnay the the Merlot by the way, and they are wonderful.
In this edition of "How She Got Started" of the Midlife Schmidlife podcast, Mollie shares her inspiration for her journey, what prompted her to start her own business. And how she to contacted Menopause the Musical in Las Vegas to have her wines be "the official" wine of the show. We get insight of Mollie's go-get-em attitude and hat we can learn from her. Because Mollie didn't just stop at her wines, she continued her message to giving talks and helping to lead retreats. We also talk about the realities of menopause, empty-nesters and the changes we face as a women getting older. We share a lot of laughs and a couple of midlife moments where we forget what we were talking about.

HamiltonInna Lukyanovsky is a doctor of pharmacy, a functional medicine practitioner, a best-selling author, a gut-healing coach, a mom of three sons and someone who once, suffered the symptoms of Chron's disease.
Originally, in the year 2000, she was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis. After the birth of her second son the symptoms came back with a vengeance and the new diagnosis was Crohn's disease and the symptoms were so severe they felt completely debilitated.
The initial diagnosis of Crohn's disease was devastating. The belief was that there was no return to normal with Crohn's disease, an autoimmune disorder with no cure.
Just imagine, here she was a healthcare professional and not able to find relief within the traditional medical field to help her colitis and Chron's diagnosis. And this is what led Inna down the path to discovering functional medicine to help herself, not even realizing that this would become her life's passion to help others.
Inna feels passionate about the body's natural ability to heal. It's an amazing feeling to know you helped someone get back their energy, improve their digestion, increase their sexual drive and simply help them feel good in their skin.

Liz Applegate, Paula Jenkins and Julie Houghton have a continued conversation around confidence. As life coaches, they've noticed that in their own lives and in working with clients, a lack self-confidence is something that constantly comes up during times of transition. Confidence just seems to be the bottom layer of so many places where we can get stuck.
What's also special about this episode is it's actually part 2 of a conversation that we started yesterday over on the Jumpstart Your Joy podcast with Paula, on episode 132. So if you haven't done so already, be sure to check out that episode.
In this episode they discuss:

There are so many exciting things coming up to share with you - ways we can work together, ways you can hear more from me - it's a super exciting time in the life of my business and I am loving how 2018 is just taking off. So much better than 2017 - which just didn't feel like my year at all.
How about you? If we look back to the start of the year, are you feeling how you wanted to feel by now, 4 months into the year?
I'm hoping that today's show will be able to help whether you are feeling great about the way the year is unfolding or if you are still feeling a bit flat and realize 2018 is feeling like another year on auto-pilot.
My guest today is Staci Witten and you may remember her from episode 17 of the show. Staci is a long-time friend - in fact we've known each other for almost 20 years. When she asked if I'd participate in an online summit she was putting together I jumped at the chance.
Staci is bringing together 15 wonderful guests and we will be talking about intentional living from our own expertise of focus. She has coaches, wellness experts, organization experts with Discussions around personal boundaries, limiting beliefs and personal success.
So I brought Staci on the podcast today to share a little about the summit, how you can signup for free and things she learned from speaking with the experts and putting this all together.

In today's episode, meaningful business coach Jo Casey and podcast host Liz Applegate talk a little about what it means to be a woman, what it means to be a woman who is getting older, how society views women and aging and why we need to unlearn our "feminine conditioning" to live a happy and fulfilled life.
Jo Casey is a certified coach, speaker, trainer and podcaster. In addition to being British, slightly nerdy and allergic to the marketing bullsh*t in the personal development industry, she's certain that succeeding as female entrepreneurs means violating every single message that's been poured into us about what it means to be a 'good' woman (Don't take up space….be compliant….defer to others....don't be pushy/bossy/too confident etc.etc.)

How many of us view self-care as selfish? And how many of us are suffering from burnout from putting our careers and other relationships before our own self-care? Notice how these questions go hand-in-hand?
That's where my guest Lara Heacock found herself in her mid-30's and what led to her becoming a life & leadership coach with a focus on kindness.
In our conversation, Lara shares her journey as a high-achieving woman and what led to her realization that self-kindness needed to be brought to the top of her to-do list. We dive into bringing forth projects into the world and celebrating our journey of self-awareness.
Lara's mission is to end burnout by using kindness and she hopes to shift the culture that glorifies burnout to one that believes self-kindness and self-care as a vehicle to success. During a 365 day challenge to bring more kindness into the world, she realized she needed to start with herself and Self-Kindness Saturday was born.
WOW - who else wants to begin that practice??!
Lara and I are both graduates of the 9-month intensive Courageous Living Coach Certification (her in 2014 and me in 2015). Now we are members of the Leadership Team for the program and get to hang out quite a bit throughout the year.
Lara also just released a book, Practical Kindness: 52 Ways to Bring More Compassion, Courage and Kindness into Your World.
The book is set up in four sections with and easy to read chapter to read each week. I can't recommend it enough as a way to create weekly practice of bringing more positive action into your life.
If you are someone who feels she constantly needs to be "on" and needs to be doing all the things, you will love this interview.
