John 13:1-15. Why do we do what we do? The why behind what we do is what Jesus has first done for you.

What did Jesus believe about spirituality? What role does scripture play in our spiritual lives? In this teaching, we will look at the tradition of spiritual formation that Jesus himself grew up in, and learn what it means for our day-to-day life in our modern context.

To decide whether or not the Old Testament is trustworthy, we first need to see what Jesus thought about the Hebrew scriptures that He knew so well.

People commonly say that the New Testament was compiled and changed to benefit political and religious leaders and is thus, not trustworthy. In actuality, there are three good reasons to believe that the New Testament is reliable and could never be used to gain political or religious power.

The Bible did not create Christianity. Christianity is the result of a historical event - Jesus's resurrection - and the Bible was written as an account and consequence of that event.

Psalm 91. God promises to give rest to those who make him their refuge so we can trust him. He is the God who can deliver us and protect us from disease and harm. Even if he does not, he is with us and will show us his salvation.

Psalm 19. God's glory is revealed to us through his creation and in his commandments. When we live according to God's intention, we participate with creation in experiencing and declaring the glory of God - the active presence of His goodness in the world.

Psalm 105. Worship is ascribing worth to something or someone. We all worship because we all give worth to things, but only God is worthy of all of our worship. When we ascribe worth to Him, we are transformed by Him.

Psalm 32. Confession involves acknowledging our sins to God and not covering it up. When we confess our sin, our loving God responds with forgiveness, protection, and direction. When we confess, we can hide in Him instead of running from Him.

Psalm 80. In his grief over the destruction of Jerusalem, Asaph cries out to God for revival. He calls the people to prayer and repentance so that God would forgive their sin and heal their land.
