Midwestern State returned home after playing three-straight road games, and picked up all three points with a 2-1 victory in its Lone Star Conference encounter with Lubbock Christian. Mere Escobar assisted Sulahmana Bah, who scored with a header in front of the goal in the 59th minute. Rory Doyle delivered an assist on a corner kick in the 80th minute as Darryl Walsh scored his first goal of the season. Walsh missed the previous match against Oklahoma Christian due to a red card received at Eastern New Mexico. The Mustangs improved to 1-2-0 in conference play and are on the road to face UT Tyler on Wednesday night before hosting Texas A&M International at Stang Park on Saturday at 7 p.m.

Midwestern State faced the No. 1 team in the nation on Saturday night, and sophomore goalkeeper Lexi Jackson had a career-high nine saves, but the Mustangs fell to Dallas Baptist at Patriot Soccer Field, 1-0. Michelle Gonzalez scored the goal for the Patriots in the 83rd minute, as DBU won its fifth-straight match in the series. The Patriots are atop the Lone Star Conference standings with 16 points from seven matches. MSU has seven points with a 2-4-1 record in the LSC. MSU will travel to The Pitch in Canyon for a pivotal match against West Texas A&M, which is 3-1-2 with 11 points in the conference race. Kickoff is scheduled for Saturday at 7 p.m.

Midwestern State swept Cameron in the second match of a brief homestand this past weekend after a tough battle with West Texas A&M. Sophomore OH Kelli Ell was once again a force to be reckoned with for the Mustangs. Ell had 11 kills and hit .240 against the 14th-ranked Buffaloes. She followed that up with 12 kills and hit .385 in the win over Cameron. Freshman OH Arriana Fields is joining the ranks of young players making valuable contributions. Fields accounted for a career-high 7.5 points against WT, and was equally impressive against Cameron, hitting .313 on 16 attacks. MSU is back on the road this weekend to face Dallas Baptist and UT Tyler.

Midwestern State suffered a heartbreaking 30-27 overtime loss at Western New Mexico to fall to 3-2 on the season and 2-1 in the Lone Star Conference. A goal line stand by Western New Mexico kept the Mustangs from scoring on a 16-play, 78-yard drive in the third quarter. Ritse Vaes kicked a field goal in overtime before WNMU scored a touchdown to win the game. MSU now focuses on West Texas A&M, which will be at Memorial Stadium for a 7 p.m. kickoff on Saturday.

Midwestern State went down a man in the 23rd minute at Oklahoma Christian and suffered its first loss of the season, 2-1, on Saturday night in Oklahoma City. Daryl Walsh denied Isaias Silva a scoring opportunity as the last defender and was issued the first red card shown to a Mustang this season. Rory Doyle assisted sophomore forward Max Gonzales, who scored the fourth goal of his career for the Mustangs. Doyle now has 10 points, and has at least one point in all but two matches this year. Meachum’s squad is visiting Eastern New Mexico on Wednesday night at 6:30 before hosting Lubbock Christian Saturday at 3 p.m.

Midwestern State is hosting the Mustang Derby this weekend at River Creek Golf Course in Wichita Falls. The runners start the 5K run at 8 a.m. The Mustangs have turned in some positive results through their first three meets. Finishing second at the DBU Orville Rogers XC Opener before winning the Cameron Aggie Duels. In a strong field of 26, MSU finished 11th at the Missouri Southern Stampede on Sept. 17. The Mustang Derby is the first of three meets for Bruce’s bunch before Midwestern State hosts the LSC Championships at River Creek Golf Course on Nov. 5.

The Lady Buffs, ranked No. 14 in the nation, visit D.L. Ligon Coliseum Friday for a match with MSU at 6 p.m. The Aggies will visit the Mustangs on Saturday with first serve scheduled for noon.

Midwestern State is coming off the most lopsided victory in the history of the program, defeating conference newcomer Simon Fraser, 77-0, for its third-straight win. The Mustangs improved to 3-1 overall. MSU is on the road this week, taking a long bus trip to Silver City, New Mexico, for the ninth all-time meeting with Western New Mexico. Midwestern has won its last six meeting with WNMU, which is 2-2 this season and both of its victories came at Ben Altamirano Field. MSU is one of four 2-0 teams in the LSC race, and WNMU is 1-1 in conference play.

No. 3-ranked Midwestern State is coming off a 0-0 draw with Lubbock Christian in a non-conference match at Lubbock. The Mustangs are traveling to Oklahoma City for a rematch with Oklahoma Christian. The Eagles lost to MSU at Stang Park, 2-0, when the two sides clashed in a non-conference match on Sept. 21.
