Midwestern State is preparing for its next meet, which will be the Mustang Open in Wichita Falls at River Creek Golf Course on Oct. 8th. MSU is off to a great start this season with a second-place finish at the DBU Orville Rogers XC Opener, a win at the Aggie Duels in Lawton, Oklahoma, and an 11th place showing in the Missouri Southern Stampede, which featured an outstanding field. Midwestern State won its first-ever meeting with Simon Fraser in convincing fashion, 77-0, and head coach Bill Maskill visited with Pete Stein following the victory at Memorial Stadium on Saturday night.

Midwestern State finished 11th in the Missouri Southern Stampede Saturday morning at the Tom Rutledge Cross Country Course. Elizabeth Butzke led the way for the Mustangs with a time of 18:30.40, which is the ninth best 5K time ever recorded by a Midwestern State runner. Ella Pando recorded her first collegiate countable performance with the 10th best 5K time in program history —18:33.19. Alexandra Feller, Cori Morgan and Jadyn Dangerfield were also impressive in Joplin. Next up for the Cross Country team is the Mustang Open at River Creek Golf Course in Wichita Falls on Oct. 8 at 7:45 a.m.

Midwestern State opened conference play with a 28-14 victory at Eastern New Mexico as Dylon Davis returned an interception for a touchdown to turn the game in the Mustangs’ favor. Freshman running back Devin Cross rushed for 139 yards on 18 carries to lead the MSU offense. Michigan Tech will visit Memorial Stadium Saturday night at 7 p.m. to face Midwestern State in a non-conference game.
