    STORYLINE:
    With ongoing airstrikes in Iran and rising concerns of a broader conflict, Iranians are making their way toward their country’s borders with Armenia, Azerbaijan and Turkey, many hoping to wait out the uncertainty back home.
    Among them was Andranik Harutyunyan, an Iranian Armenian from Isfahan who arrived in Armenia through the Meghri checkpoint on Monday, and was planning to live in Armenia temporarily.
    The 84-year-old said he had not visited the Armenian capital, Yerevan, in 25 years.
    “Areas next to the government (buildings) are being bombed. But they don’t touch cities. It is calm in the cities,” he said, stressing that most ethnic Armenians in Iran did not want to leave their homes.
    “Up until last night, the supermarkets were full of food and goods. The only thing is that prices are high,” he said of the situation in Iran.
    Azerbaijani media has reported a number of foreign citizens crossing the Iranian-Azerbaijani border before traveling to the airport in the Azerbaijani capital of Baku.
    Azerbaijan’s land borders have remained closed since the Covid-19 pandemic.
    Officials opened the southern border checkpoint with Iran in response to the ongoing conflict, allowing those with special permission from the authorities to cross.
    On Monday, the Charge d'Affaires of the Iranian Embassy in Azerbaijan, Seyyed Jafar Aghaei, said the head of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) had "betrayed the cause of non-proliferation... by providing incorrect and incomplete information."
    "We consider him an accomplice in this aggression," he said.

  • Ataques rusos en Ucrania dejan al menos 14 muertos mientras Zelenskyy viaja a Reino Unido
    (23 Jun 2025)
    Los ataques ocurrieron mientras el presidente de Ucrania, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, comenzaba una visita al Reino Unido, donde se reunió en privado con el rey Carlos III.
    El mandatario señaló que la defensa de Ucrania y nuevas formas de presionar a Rusia serán los dos temas principales en su visita.
    Mientras tanto, el Ministerio ruso de Defensa dijo que sus defensas aéreas derribaron 23 drones ucranianos durante la noche del lunes.

    “We haven't gotten an initial briefing from the White House. All we received from the white house was a so-called courtesy with no explanation as to the rationale for the decision that was taken that could have serious consequences for the American people. I asked for a Gang of Eight briefing. It has yet to occur. And it's not clear to me what the administration is hiding from the Congress and from the American people. If they have a case to make, come up to Capitol Hill and make it.”
    ++BLACK FRAMES++
    5.SOUNDBITE (English) Rep. Hakeem Jeffries, Minority Leader:
    “And what's in front of us right now is the Trump administration has a responsibility to come to Congress, justify its actions, for which we've seen no evidence to justify its offensive strike in Iran. And we also don't even know how effective the strike has been. There's zero evidence that I've seen. The nuclear program was completely and totally obliterated as Donald Trump has claimed. No evidence that has been presented to Congress to suggest that that has occurred. Let's see what happens at the classified briefing tomorrow.”
    ++BLACK FRAMES++
    6.SOUNDBITE (English) Rep. Hakeem Jeffries, Minority Leader:
    “As it relates to just the climate of political violence that exists and that's something that we need to decisively deal with here on Capitol Hill. This should not be a Democratic or Republican issue. Every single member of the House and the Senate should be able to do their job free of the threat of political violence to themselves and to their families. And that's going to require the House taking decisive steps in terms of increasing the resources available to keep members of Congress safe so we can actually effectively represent the American people, regardless of party affiliation or political ideology.”
