    5. Various of protest
    STORYLINE:
Hundreds of people gathered on Sunday in The Hague to protest against NATO, military spending and against a possible conflict with Iran.
The protest comes two days before a NATO summit in The Hague is seeking to increase allies' defence budgets.
The Netherlands is hosting the annual meeting of the 32-nation alliance starting on Tuesday, with leaders scheduled to meet on Wednesday.
Although billed as a demonstration against NATO and the war in Gaza, demonstrators were joined by Iranians who held up banners saying “No Iran War,” a day after the US launched attacks against three of Iran's nuclear sites.
Maliheh Hayati, a protester and ex-political prisoner in Iran, said political prisoners in Iran were at risk.
"We gather together just because we say, at first, no to the Islamic Regime of Iran, and then no to war. No to any war among powers who are looking (out) for their interests," she said.
One Iraqi demonstrator warned that what happened in his country after the US-led invasion could happen in Iran.
"There was no weapons and now they are repeating the same crime against Iran. Why? When is it enough?" he asked.
Several close U.S. allies urged a return to the negotiating table in the wake of American strikes on Iran that fueled fears of a wider conflict, while noting the threat posed by Tehran’s nuclear program.

"I'm here at the Fondazione Prada where we've just seen the menswear collection for next spring and summer. It's a very youthful collection inspired by childhood. There are short shorts for men in tracksuits that can be worn with blazers. The designers said they wanted to create something nice and a sense of escapism, to put a smile on your face, well aware that we're living in very difficuly times."
    14. Medium shot Miuccia Prada
    STORYLINE:
With global tensions escalating, Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons want to change the conversation to something gentle, calm and nice with their menswear collection for next summer, previewed during Milan Fashion Week on Sunday.
“We tried to make a change of tone, from powerful to gentle, calm,’’ Prada said after the show. “Basically, the opposite of aggression, power, nastiness.’’
“Sometimes it is good to reflect, and be a bit more calm,’’ added Simons, her co-creative director.
In that vein, the pair’s latest menswear collection recalled childish innocence, opening with short shorts that were more precisely elasticized briefs, with pleated pockets, worn with a sturdy, sure-footed shoe and black sock and a crisp white buttoned-down shirt with a naive print of a sun and waves.
These panty-shorts were paired also with leather coats, long cotton shirts or fringed knitwear that give men access to the pant-less look already embraced by some female celebrities.
A more serious double-breasted suit was worn with the sleeves pushed up in a get-to-work gesture layered over track jackets. Track pants with a side stripe or straight, cropped cotton trousers otherwise anchored the looks with leather jackets, car coats or knitwear.
Urban looks ensembles paired with backpacks and flip-flops, on the verge of the getaway. Light, summer looks were finished with loafers. Nothing was completely office, and nothing was completely beach. The silhouette was deliberately unstructured, and the color palette broad and undefined.
Gray, black, khaki and navy were offset by red, sky blue, lime green and turquoise and purple, monochromes mixing casually, as if to say, any way you want.
“We wanted everything to be human in its dimension, to be light and fresh and colorful,’’ Simons said.
There was humor, even whimsy, in bright cone-shaped woven raffia hats that recalled a shuttlecock, some with strands of raffia feathering over the eyes as if a shade. In the spirit of change, th... [truncated]

    STORYLINE:
Hours after the U.S. struck three nuclear sites in Iran, Iran launched more than 40 missiles towards Israel on Sunday morning, injuring 23 people and destroying apartment buildings and homes in three cities across Israel.
Iranian missiles damaged the homes of hundreds of people in Tel Aviv on Sunday morning, the city deputy mayor Haim Goren said.
Residents sat with their pets and suitcases stuffed with belongings outside the buildings.
Strikes have displaced more than 9,000 people from their homes, according to a military official, who spoke on condition of anonymity in line with military regulations.
Missiles have damaged 240 residential buildings, including more than 2,000 individual apartments.
Mira Goshen, 79, said her entire apartment in Tel Aviv was destroyed.
“The mamad was shaking like a leaf, and I thought it was the end of the world,” Goshen said, referring to the reinforced safe rooms that are required in all new buildings. She said the fact that they were inside the shelter saved their lives. The reinforced rooms stood intact amidst rubble of entire homes that were flattened.
Goshen’s pet bird, Chica, was in her cage on the balcony during the siren, fell 11 floors but was rescued by emergency workers after escaping the destroyed cage.
Hours after the impact, Chica was still snuggled into Goshen’s neck as Goshen wandered around next to her building, where municipality workers had set up a temporary situation room to assist people, handing out sandwiches and water.
Multiple businesses on a nearby street had their windows blown out, with piles of glass surrounding children’s clothes and books. Workers were quickly installing temporary protection and trying to salvage any non-damaged goods.

“Filipino activist and all freedom-loving Filipinos are condemning the US acts of aggression in Iran. We condemn the bombing in Iran, we condemn Israel’s genocide in Palestine and Israel’s attack on Iran. This proves that the greatest threat to humanity is the US government.”

    4. SOUNDBITE (English) Mong Palatino, protest leader:
"What the US did is not just an escalation of conflict, not just an undermining of peace but also it will cause suffering in the different parts of the world that will be felt by ordinary consumers and ordinary citizens.”
    5. Various of protest
    STORYLINE:
Protesters gathered in the Philippine capital, Manila, on Sunday to voice their anger at U.S. strikes on Iran.
The U.S. military struck three sites in Iran earlier in the day, inserting itself into Israel’s effort to destroy Iran’s nuclear program in a risky gambit to weaken a longtime foe amid Tehran’s threat of reprisals that could spark a wider regional conflict.
The decision to directly involve the U.S. comes after more than a week of strikes by Israel on Iran that have moved to systematically eradicate the country’s air defenses and offensive missile capabilities, while damaging its nuclear enrichment facilities.
But U.S. and Israeli officials have said that American stealth bombers and a 30,000-pound (13,600-kilogram) bunker-buster bomb they alone can carry offered the best chance of destroying heavily fortified sites connected to the Iranian nuclear program buried deep underground.
President Donald Trump announced the strikes. Iran’s state-run IRNA news agency reported that the attacks targeted the country’s Fordo, Isfahan and Natanz nuclear sites. The agency did not elaborate. Iran’s foreign minister said Iran reserves the right to retaliate.

    STORYLINE:
More than a hundred Filipino activists held a protest in Manila on Sunday to condemn the US bombing of three Iranian nuclear and military sites.
US President Donald Trump said Saturday that the strikes hit the Natanz, Fordo and Isfahan sites in Iran.
He says Fordo was the primary target.
"This proves that the greatest threat to humanity is the US government," protest leader Mong Palatino said.
He said the attacks will lead to an escalation of war and conflict in the region.
Iran has multiple major sites associated with its nuclear program, including one in the heart of its capital Tehran.
Its Natanz enrichment site has been targeted several times in suspected sabotage attacks by Israel.

"How do I feel right now? I am feeling a bit stressed right now, holding on a little, I can't explain my feeling, because when we heard the booms, we thought it was coming into our house. I live in this house and also I have a business here, which is a hair salon and boutique. So there was a loud explosion and it's very scary and difficult and I don't even have words. Thank you very much to God."
    3. Various of destruction, emergency workers at scene
    4. SOUNDBITE (Hebrew) Eyal Levy, Haifa resident:
"First of all, it was necessary for the United States to join, Israel does not have the bombs, as we know for the depth. We still don't know, you know, there are currently conflicting reports in Iran, we don't actually know as of today, whether it was truly completely destroyed or not, but I really hope that it is so, and we have reached a new Middle East where the axis of evil, as it's called, is gone, and we are in a different place."
    5. Various of emergency workers at scene, people watching
    STORYLINE:
An Israeli rescue service said Iranian missiles struck areas in northern and central Israel after the U.S. carried out strikes on Iran overnight.
The Magen David Adom rescue service said one of those wounded was a 30-year-old man in moderate condition and the other 10 were lightly wounded.
In Haifa, where some buildings were struck, residents expressed shock but also support at the U.S. decision to join Israel's war and deploy missiles against Iran.
Angelina Zorin, whose house and business are near where the strikes hit, recalled thinking the strike would hit inside her house when she heard a loud explosion. "It's very scary and difficult and I don't even have words," she said.
"It was necessary for the United States to join, Israel does not have the bombs, as we know, for the depth," said another Haifa resident, Eyal Levy. He said he hoped U.S. involvement would ensure "a new Middle East where the axis of evil, as it's called, is gone."
Shortly after the Iranian missile barrage, Israel announced its warplanes were conducting strikes on “military targets” in western Iran, without immediately elaborating.
The United States has inserted itself into Israel's war against Iran, bombing three of the Islamic Republic's key nuclear sites overnight. U.S. President Donald Trump asserted that the sites were “completely and fully obliterated,” and warned there would be additional strikes if Iran retaliates.
The U.S. attacks came after a week of open conflict between Israel and Iran, sparked by Israel's sudden barrage of attacks against Iran’s nuclear and military structure.
Israeli strikes began on June 13. Targeting Iranian military and nuclear sites, they killed several top military officials and nuclear scientists. Iran retaliated by fir... [truncated]

    7. SOUNDBITE (English) Filippo Biraghi and Simone Botte, designers:
Biraghi: "There is a big evolution this time first of all because we are hosted in prestigious location. And we decided in this collection to make garments that even though they are upcycled, as we always do, but in a way that they can be reproduced, remaining one of a kind but with a lot of styles. It's like a recipe book that we wrote this time in deciding to give this opportunity. The collection is based on details. So we decided to go for a more quiet color pallet which is between white and black with all the shades in between and we decided to focus on a kind of uniform we created made by a pair of tailored shorts and a squared t-shirt. And one garment on each model, so there is basically no styling. And we decided to focus on garments to being the attention back on garments."

    10. Filippo Biraghi and Simone Botte on catwalk
    STORYLINE:
Simon Cracker’s collection for next summer is an expression of exasperation with a world of uninformed “experts,” and as an antidote the Italian upcycled brand has distilled its focus to singular, spotlight garments, paired with a Simon Cracker new uniform.
For designers Filippo Biraghi and Simone Botte, upcycling is the lexicon they use to tell the story. This season’s was titled: “The devil in the details.”
They took inspiration for their ironic and disproportionate details from the Belgian designer Martin Margiela, adding to the garments oversized buttons that were actually facsimile copies, huge safety- and clothespins and giant zipper pulls. “We didn’t copy Margiela. We tried to use the same language,’’ Biraghi said.
The basic Simon Cracker co-ed uniform for Spring-Summer 2026 was a simple square T-shirt fashioned from jersey stock that they saved and reconditioned after it became waterlogged in flooding. The T-shirts, each with a big care label sewn on the front, were paired with tailored black shorts.
The uniforms were backdrops for the real stars: A blazer with multiple crumpled arms that unfurled on the runway into dramatic trains. A triplicate of belted trousers tiered to make super low-waisted streetwear. Shirts sewn on dress fronts, with the arms tied behind the waist. A frenzy of shirts that become a ruffled skirt. Three pleated skirts layered to form a strapless tiered dress.
Each garment, made of clothes that had been in some way discarded, had its own architecture, and its own story.
Biraghi said that the designers have come up with a “recipe” for some core garments, including the Siamese T-Shirt he was wearing. It was m... [truncated]
