    3. SOUNDBITE (Hebrew) Eliran Bar, father of premature baby:
“I have a three-week-old premature baby. He was born on Saturday three weeks ago exactly. He is sweet and tiny. When all the problems started yesterday, the firing (of missiles), we came down from the premature baby department on the top floor to the underground facility. At the moment the baby is calm, he was a bit agitated yesterday, he probably felt it, hoping for the best.”
    5. Bar next to incubator
    6. SOUNDBITE (Hebrew) Eliran Bar, father of premature baby:

    7. Underground facility with sign reading (Hebrew): “Surgical department“
    8. Various of facility
    9. SOUNDBITE (Hebrew) Dr. Reut Kassif, Paediatric Intensive Care Specialist at Sheba Medical Center:
“It involves a lot of difficult feelings for the families. They have to bring their loved ones down here, the conditions here are not optimal, they are the safest there is, but it is not optimal. A lot of noise, smells, a lot of equipment, but they feel safe because they are in the best hands there is. We continue to provide the best care possible and everyone told me this morning 'we are so happy that we came down here, we feel as safe as possible in the country'.”

Also the preparation of the place, to receive the patients in terms of communication systems, computing, respiratory systems and all the supporting equipment, and also getting down here, a child with all the medications they receive, the support, to the point where sometimes you have to bring down a child in two separate vans. A van for the child and a van for the equipment and their family, of course.”

  • Israel threatens further attacks after Iran's retaliatory strikes, AP explains
    (14 Jun 2025)
RESTRICTION SUMMARY: PART NO USE BY BBC PERSIAN, VOA PERSIAN, MANOTO TV, IRAN INTERNATIONAL
++The Associated Press is adhering to Iranian law that stipulates all media are banned from providing BBC Persian, VOA Persian, Manoto TV and Iran International any coverage from Iran, and under this law if any media violate this ban the Iranian authorities can immediately shut down that organisation in Tehran.++

    2. SOUNDBITE (English) Jon Gambrell, The Associated Press: ++STARTS ON SHOT 1 AND PARTIALLY OVERLAID BY SHOTS 3 TO 6++
"Iran has launched a series of retaliatory missile strikes on Israel in the last 24 hours. This is after Israel has launched just a devastating attack on Iran that has seen much of its senior military leadership killed. Now, these strikes that happened in Israel focused primarily around the area of Tel Aviv. There was destruction in private homes and other areas, and in Israel they say at least three people are dead and dozens of others suffered injuries. Now in Iran at least 78 people have been killed in these Israeli strikes so far. That's according to casualty information offered by the Iranians who also say hundreds of others were wounded. Now we don't have any specificity from the Iranian side on the victim list, but we do know that top leaders in their military, including the head of the Revolutionary Guard and the army chief of staff among others are dead. Now the Iranians are starting to name people to take over some of these positions and the fact that Iran was able to launch this ballistic missile strike shows that they still exercise a level of command and control over their military forces. But as this is going on, even today, the Israelis have been able to basically own the skies over Iran. They've been striking targets across the country, and it remains unclear just how much of a presence the Iranian military has on the ground to be able to try to shoot back at these aircraft. Now, as far as the Israelis are concerned, these strikes are going to continue for some time to come, and it does look like military sites, as well as Iran's nuclear sites, have been struck."

    2. SOUNDBITE (Hebrew) Brig. Gen. Effie Defrin, Israeli military spokesman: ++PARTIALLY OVERLAID BY GRAPHICS FROM SOURCE++
"During the night, the Air Force launched attacks, with the participation of over 70 Israeli fighter jets, against targets in Tehran located in the heart of the country. The road to Tehran was paved. We attacked about 40 targets throughout Tehran, missiles, advanced defense systems of the Air Force, in addition to infrastructure for control systems and additional firing sites. Our fighter jets flew for about two-and-a-half hours in the skies over Tehran alongside drones that fly 24 hours a day, controlling the area and assisting in the attack and with intelligence."

    3. SOUNDBITE (Hebrew) Brig. Gen. Effie Defrin, Israeli military spokesman:
"This is a space where the Air Force aircraft are operating for the first time. This is the deepest point in which we have operated so far in Iran.”
    ++ENDS ON SOUNDBITE++
    STORYLINE:
An Israeli military spokesman said on Saturday it is cooperating "with a number of partners" as it threatens further attacks on Iran.
Effie Defrin declined to provide further information on which states were supporting Israel's operations.
Defrin claimed the Israeli Air Force was operating freely over Iranian airspace.
"This is the deepest point in which we have operated so far," he said.
Other Israeli officials warned of more attacks on Iran after Iran's deadly retaliatory strikes on Israel overnight and into the morning.
Three people were killed and dozens were wounded in Israel, after a series of blistering Israeli attacks on Iran’s nuclear program and its armed forces the previous day.
Israel’s assault on Friday used warplanes, as well as drones smuggled into the country in advance, to assault key facilities and kill top generals and scientists.
Iran’s U.N. ambassador said 78 people were killed and more than 320 wounded in the attacks.
Israel said the barrage was necessary before Iran got any closer to building an atomic weapon, although experts and the U.S. government have assessed that Tehran was not actively working on such a weapon before the strikes.
It also threw talks between the United States and Iran over an atomic accord into disarray days before the two sides were set to meet Sunday.

    STORYLINE:
Tehran residents woke up Saturday to billboards of commanders and scientists killed in Friday's Israeli strikes on the Iranian capital.
Israel’s assault on Friday used warplanes, as well as drones smuggled into the country in advance, to assault key facilities and kill top generals and scientists. Iran’s U.N. ambassador said 78 people were killed and more than 320 wounded in the attacks.
On Saturday, Israel warned of more attacks after Iran's deadly retaliatory strikes on Israel overnight and into the morning. Three people were killed and dozens were wounded in Israel, after a series of blistering Israeli attacks on Iran’s nuclear program and its armed forces the previous day.
Iranian state television, long controlled by hard-line supporters of the country's theocracy, repeatedly aired footage of missile strikes on Tel Aviv throughout the morning. The broadcaster also showed people cheering in front of a large screen set up in Tehran to follow the strikes as if they were watching a soccer match.
Traffic was lighter than normal on the capital's streets. The change was due in part to a religious holiday; even before the attacks began, many Iranians had traveled outside the city to enjoy days off in places along the nearby Caspian Sea. In the capital, long queues of cars were seen waiting outside gas stations.
The holiday mood made news of Israel’s assault that much more shocking, particularly when the strikes on Friday killed many high ranking members of Iran’s military and paramilitary Revolutionary Guard, something unseen since Iran’s war with Iraq in the 1980s.

I am here to fight for my right to love the person I want, to be able to create a family with him at a legislative level. To be able to put him on the wanted list if something happens to him. So that it can be me, who would put him on the wanted list or make some important decision if he is incapacitated or in a coma. Therefore (I want) to have the opportunity for those basic rights, the basic family that all other people have. I fought for our freedom, the freedom of Ukraine at the frontline and now I want my country to take care of me as much as I took care of it."

    6. SOUNDBITE (Ukrainian) Anna Sharygina, Head of KyivPride:
“We don't notice equality and rights when we have them and when everything is fine. Now in the country there are very often emergency situations in which partners from the LGBTQ community, without marriage equality, without legal civil partnerships, cannot get to the hospital (to their partners), cannot make a crisis decision (for partner), cannot find a body (of their partner) to bury their defenders with dignity. That's why we are here today, standing up for equality in Ukraine right now. The Verkhovna Rada continues to work and pass laws. We demand the adoption of these laws."

Hundreds of LGBTQ+ Ukrainians and their supporters marched in central Kyiv Saturday to demand more rights.
Campaigners are seeking legal reforms to allow people in same-sex relationships to make medical decisions for their wounded partners, and bury victims of the Russian full scale invasion that extended across Ukraine more than three years ago.

"I fought for our freedom, the freedom of Ukraine at the frontline, and now I want my country to take care of me as much as I took care of it," he told The Associated Press.
Advocates argue an improvement in LGBTQ+ rights would create a further distinction between Ukraine and Russia, where those rights are severely restricted.
