"This day is the darkest day in the history of our country. The school shooting is a national tragedy that has deeply shaken us. Through this unimaginable act, nine people were suddenly torn from their lives. There are no words to express the pain, bewilderment, and grief. The entire Austrian nation is in shock. STORYLINE:
Hundreds attended a mass after a former student opened fire at a school in Austria’s second-biggest city on Tuesday.
Ten people were fatally shot and many were injured before the shooter took his own life, authorities said.
Austrian Chancellor Christian Stocker described Tuesday's school shooting in Graz as "the darkest day in the history of our country."
Speaking at a news conference, he said it was "a national tragedy that has deeply shaken us."
There was no immediate information on the motive of the 21-year-old man, who wasn’t previously known to police.
He had two weapons, which he appeared to have owned legally, police said.
Special forces were among those sent to the BORG Dreierschützengasse high school, about a kilometer (over half a mile) from Graz’s historic center, after a call at 10 a.m.
At 11.30 a.m., police wrote on social network X that the school had been evacuated and everyone had been taken to a safe meeting point.
Authorities said the assailant was a 21-year-old Austrian man who had two weapons, which he appeared to have owned legally.
Police said they didn’t immediately have information on the man’s motive.
Stocker said there would be three days of national mourning, with the Austrian flag lowered to half-staff and a national minute of mourning at 10 a.m. Wednesday.

    2. SOUNDBITE (English) Billy Idol, recording artist:
“I managed to overcome some of my demons, maybe not completely, always battling with them. And maybe that's what this documentary's about in some ways, it shows all the different periods of my life: The punk rock era, you know, where we sort of didn't really think there was much of a future in it really, but it went mega and we thought it might only last six months a year, two years. Look what happened. Maybe if you do the thing you love, you get paid back. Maybe that's what this documentary is talking about as well.”
    3. Various, Billy Idol
    4. SOUNDBITE (English) Billy Idol, recording artist:
“Also, it talks about the relationship with my father, my family, my mother, my father in most particular, because we had a particularly weird teenager time. It was a little weird, but Dad didn't quite understand why you'd want to be a performer. He couldn't understand that at all. But I think over time he did, and we had a great last 20 years of his life. It's fantastic. But we went through a weird time. The film talks about that.”
    5. Various, Billy Idol
    6. SOUNDBITE (English) Billy Idol, recording artist:
“We took a long time over it, mainly because of the coronavirus kept interrupting, but actually it all helped the documentary in the end. It needed that time. It needed a gestation period and it came out, it's killer. I mean it's got emotional moments. I was crying at the end of it last time I watched it.”
    7. Various, Billy Idol
    8. SOUNDBITE (English) Billy Idol, recording artist:
“Well, I came to New York in 1981 to sort of start my solo career. It gave me a second home, I mean it really took me, it took me in New York, it really took me into America. I can't thank you enough, it's been incredible, I'm so glad this is happening at Tribeca, which has helped to bring back, after 9-11, it helped to really bring the city back and I love New York so it's fantastic, I can be here premiering it tonight.”

  • Protesters block vehicle exits at federal immigration court in Seattle

    Seattle - 10 June 2025
    1. Various of federal police and protesters facing off at a blocked exit ++NOTE CONTENTS: DEMONSTRATORS CHANTING AT POLICE 'KILL YOURSELF'++
    2. SOUNDBITE (English) Matt Payne, court volunteer:
"Every single day for the past three weeks, when I show up, I just go through security and I go up. And today, they weren't allowing anybody, unless you had an appointment, but if you had an immigration appointment, they would let you up. Or if you were an attorney, joining your client for their immigration, they would let up. But the Northwest Immigrant Rights Project, the volunteers such as myself, nobody else was allowed up."
    3. Federal police, security guards removing e-bikes, scooters from exits (those were later put back)
    4. SOUNDBITE (English) Matt Payne, court volunteer:
"When an immigrant is rendered, it's vital that you get their A number or their file number because that's how you track them through the system. And without volunteers being there to see that and to record that, we would never know who they're throwing down that elevator shaft. And so it's vital to keep a record of these people."
    5. Federal police, security guards removing e-bikes, scooters from exits (those were later put back)
6.SOUNDBITE (English) Matt Payne, court volunteer:
"I, with the stuff that was going on with LA, I was very nervous and the main rendering days are Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, but they're ramping it up, right? Each week it's getting more and more aggressive. They're moving at a faster and faster pace. They're being more and aggressive with how they're going after people."
    7. Federal police, security guards removing e-bikes, scooters from exits (those were later put back)
    8. SOUNDBITE (English) Matt Payne, court volunteer:
"But no, this is, I think this was a group from Tacoma that had a lot of passion and saw this occurring and wanted to show support for their Seattle immigrants. And they came up."
    9. Demonstrator with sign
    STORYLINE:
Demonstrators and federal police are in a stand off at a building that houses U.S. immigration courts.
On Tuesday morning demonstrators blocked vehicle entrances and exits at the Henry M. Jackson building in downtown Seattle, where there is an immigration court.
U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement federal agents have been detaining people after they leave court for the past several weeks. The blocked entry ways would ostensibly stop transportation of detained immigrants away from court, at least through that route.
Security had stopped the public, including volunteers and legal aid lawyers, from going to the hallway outside the court on Tuesday. At the same time, several different groups converged on the court house to protest.

  • World’s most popular TikTok star Khaby Lame leaves the U.S. after being detained by ICE

    RESTRICTION SUMMARY:

    1. TikToker Khaby Lame leaving the Mark Hotel ahead of the Met Gala
    STORYLINE:
Khaby Lame, the world’s most popular TikTok personality with millions of followers, has left the U.S. after being detained by immigration agents in Las Vegas for allegedly overstaying his visa.
The Senegalese-Italian influencer, whose legal name is Seringe Khabane Lame, was detained Friday at Harry Reid International Airport but was allowed to leave the country without a deportation order, a spokesperson for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement confirmed in a statement.
Lame arrived in the U.S. on April 30 and “overstayed the terms of his visa,” the ICE spokesperson said. The Associated Press sent a message seeking comment Tuesday to the email address listed on Lame’s Instagram account. He has not publicly commented on his detainment.
His detainment and voluntary departure from the U.S. comes amid President Donald Trump’s escalating crackdown on immigration, including raids in Los Angeles that sparked days of protests against ICE, as the president tests the bounds of his executive authority.
A voluntary departure — which was granted to Lame — allows those facing removal from the U.S. to avoid a deportation order on their immigration record, which could prevent them from being allowed back into the U.S. for up to a decade.
The 25-year-old rose to international fame during the pandemic without ever saying a word in his videos, which would show him reacting to absurdly complicated “life hacks." He has over 162 million followers on TikTok alone.
The Senegal-born influencer moved to Italy when he was an infant with his working class parents and has Italian citizenship.
His internet fame quickly evolved. He signed a multi-year partnership with designer brand Hugo Boss in 2022. In January, he was appointed as a UNICEF goodwill ambassador.
Last month, he attended the Met Gala in New York City, days after arriving in the U.S.
